Pineiro sucks, though. Good thing the Red Sox won't need any middle relievers in the series.

Your pitching staff hasn't seen an offense as good as ours yet... I expect we'll see plenty of middle relief this weekend.
And Joel Pineiro talking trash?

You guys are in for a rude awakening. This team is hungry and it's gonna ride the momentum from this series right into Fenway. Good luck to you sir.

Look, I guess the middle relief comment was meant a bit as a joke but anyways...
Why shouldn't the Red Sox expect their pitching to be as good as it was so far?!? The Red Sox rotation is very well built, two good young pitchers in Beckett and Dice K who both have the potential and the stuff to be very good. Wakefield has always been an inning eater and a workhorse and Schilling is a veteran former ace to lead the staff. These guys have quality and it's no surprise that they are going deep into games early in the season. The ERAs will get a bit worse, sure, but the Red Sox invested in their pitching staff and it seems to be well invested money.
All this of course has nothing to do with the series on the weekend, in the end it's only three games. But saying the Red Sox pitching success is just reasoned by being "hot" misses the truth. Yankees have a thunderous offense because they amassed quality hitters and big bats. They invested money to do so and it pays off. Red Sox have a good pitching staff because they had a vision of building it and invested in that. That has nothing to do with being hot...

You seriously can't expect the Red Sox starters to keep up a 2.6 ERA.
That's why I said that "the ERAs will get a bit worse"...

Look, I'm not saying that the numbers of the Red Sox pitchers right now are the reality especially their ERAs. But for a team that had huge problems to have their starters deep in games last year, the start to this season is a great sign. Having starters go deep into games is a huge advantage and I think it's not a reason of being "hot"...
