How Much is Guidry to Blame?

This guy has dodged the bullets this year. Yes Joe has made suspect decisions but hes been put on the spot by poor performance from every single pitcher at one point or another. The pitchers are not sharp and often times dont seem to have a gameplan. I think it is safe to say Guidry is a clown. Bigtime.

Don't know about being a clown but I don't know that Guidry really has anything more than nostalgia going for him. He was never known to be the most sociable player when he was playing and it may be that he's not doing anything (or at least not enough of anything) for the Yankees pitchers.

He's not an alchemist, he can't make gold out of Wright and Karstens. I don't know what exactly you are to expect from him. mahalo

Guidry has had nothing to work with. Coming into the season, the entire world knew the Yankee staff was full of question marks. Then, having 3 guys on the DL at once made it even worse. What are we to expect from Guidry with guys who are nothing but career AAA players, or guys who have had two starts in their entire career past A ball? The pitching will be fine once guys get into a rhythm and nobody will be on Guidry.

unless Guidry has magic to make pitchers get outs and go for more than 5 innings, it's really hard to blame him. Didn't we blame Stottlemyre before too?

If you say that though, then how can you blame Joe?

Yea people did the same to stottlemyre. We need talented pitchers before we can blame the pitching coach

Yeah, that's definitely an honest extension of this threads question.

Stottlemyre had talented pitchers.
