Also, Carl Pavano's elbow is not getting any better. He cut his bullpen session short. ...
The Pavano news is bad. He had been throwing on the side, and got up on the mound on Sunday, but though the team kept saying he was getting better, he didn't seem so optimistic. He is going to see Dr. James Andrews in Alabama and may, in fact, need Tommy John surgery, which would finish him for this season and probably next season, too, possibly ending is career.
"It's getting ridiculous, the team needs me," Pavano said. "It's frustrating for all of us."
Please retire, Pavano.

Is it just me or did anybody else picture Pavano deliberately ramming his pitching shoulder against a brick wall over and over again when reading this article?

We should have dealt him to the rockies when we had the chance. Now we are stuck with him. No one is going to want to take on this fool. -Jitpal

Lets close this ugly chapter and put him out of our heads a la Kevin Brown. His deal is up after this year anyway right?

Nope. We have him long enough that he can give 100 interviews as a Yankee talking about how he will come back at the end of his deal, next year, and pitch better than ever. Then he will come back, pitch 4-5 games and then get signed by some other chump to some crazy deal. -Jitpal

Pavano: I need surgery
May 7
Carl Pavano spoke after the game and is confused why the Yankees are insisting he visit Dr. Lewis Yocum in California on Wednesday.
According to Pavano, he has been told he has a ligament tear and needs Tommy John surgery.
Brian Cashman says only that the Yankees are getting additional opinions. But Joe Torre mentioned a throwing program the other day, so perhaps the Yankees are intent on trying to get something out of the Rajah of Rehab before he returns to the disabled list.
Cut your losses at this point. They chucked $39.95 million on this guy. Collect the insurance, let him have surgery and be done with him. It

Pavano Exam Reveals No Heart, Guts
The trials and tribulations of Calamity Carl Pavano have almost become poetic at this point. As expected, the pitcher met with acclaimed orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews on Friday, and as expected, the pitcher could require dreaded Tommy John surgery. According to an AP report,
Andrews found damage to the ligament in Pavano's right elbow, but no significant tear. Now it's up to Calamity Carl to decide whether to make an attempt at rehabilitating the injury without surgery, or to opt for the Tommy John procedure, thereby ending his season, and more than likely, his tenure in pinstripes. One of Pavano's few remaining allies in the clubhouse these days appears to be Andy Pettitte, and ironically,
Pettitte found himself in the same predicament 11 years ago. At the time, Pettitte was advised by Dr. Andrews to undergo surgery to repair the ligament in his elbow. Instead, Pettite opted to pitch though the injury, and has continued to pitch through it for his entire career. Pettitte called the rehab "a grueling process." Such a description is probably enough to scare off Pavano, who's got about as much guts as a Thanksgiving Day turkey.I suspect we'll never see this guy on the mound again, and good riddance, too. Even Yankee-haters have got to be disgusted with this guy's face at this point.
Go to hell you piece of sh**
