Official Trade Ideas Thread

C Josh Paul
RP Ron Villone
Why
NEW YORK Does It
Villone is just sitting in AAA and the Yankees could use a backup catcher who could actually get a hit.
Why
TAMPA Does It
The DRays could really use a LHP out of their bullpen
Alex Rios
Noah Lowry
Melky Cabrera
Darrell Rasner / Tyler Clippard
Bobby Abreu
Matt DeSalvo
Cash via NY
Why NEW YORK Does It
Rios is a stud. Hits for average, power, and has a cannon arm. He;d fit very nice in RF. The lefty Lowry is going to be a nice backend of the rotation guy for us.
Why TORONTO Does It
If Toronto drops out of the race, Rios could become available. He's gonna demand some big money and I don't think Toronto could afford him now that they signed Wells, and have big money invested in Burnett, Ryan, and Halladay as well.
WHY SAN FRAN Does It
With the call up of Lincecum, The Giants can afford to spare a part of their pitching staff for some offense.
Lineup
1. CF Johnny Damon
2. SS Derek Jeter
3. RF Alex Rios
4. 3B Alex Rodriguez
5. DH Jason Giambi
6. LF Hideki Matsui
7. C Jorge Posada
8. 2B Robinson Cano
9. 1B Doug Mientkiewicz
Bench
1. Miguel Cairo
2. Josh Phelps
3. Josh Paul
4. Kevin Thompson
Rotation
1. Roger Clemens
2. Andy Pettitte
3. Chien Ming Wang
4. Mike Mussina
5. Noah Lowry / Phil Hughes
Bullpen
1. Mariano Rivera
2. Kyle Farnsworh
3. Scott Proctor
4. Luis Vizcaino
5. Mike Myers
6. Sean Henn
7. Brian Bruney
Next year, Clemens retires. New Staff:
1. Wang
2. Pettitte
3. Hughes
4. Lowry
5. Mussina

we add a young promising lefty who can go 7 IP incase any of our SP get hurt again, we add a power righty like we were suppose to do, we DFA Nieves and bring a C who can hit , I don't like trading Melky

but hey if it happens it happens and I'll be giddy again.

I'll trade Abreu or Melky as long as Rios is involved. That first trade would rule but I do'nt want to give up the Melkman cause he's a good 4th OF.

potential power hitting prospect and another SP they lack a consistant right handed SP, DeSalvo could absolutely win in the NL. Duffy's a FA after this season and management has had problems w/ him, Paulino is also a FA after this season and I continue to say he is an underrated power hitting catcher

Matt Desalvo has no trade value... none. Any team that was interested in him could have taken him from waivers when we took him off the 40 man. Nobody was interested in him.

He didn't have two solid major league starts against a good hitting ball club then. He has that now. -Jitpal

Seattle Mariners are a good hitting ball club? Since when?
The guy doesn't strike anybody out and he gives up tons of flyballs. His command isn't the greatest, either.
There are plenty of Matt Desalvo's in every organization. People had a chance to take a flyer on him, and they didn't when he was put on waivers.

he goes 7 IP + in the NL that's a commodity.
Yankees signed Pete Walker to a Minor League contract, I'm guessing w/ Henn being sent down Villone will be showcased and packaged soon

CATCHING A LOOK: The Yankees, apparently looking to upgrade backup catcher, have spoken with the Angels about the availability of Jose Molina.
According to a source, the Angels are reluctant to deal Molina right now, since they are not sold on Mike Napoli as a starter. Napoli is batting .218 with two homers and five RBI in 78 at-bats, getting the bulk of the playing time for the Angels.

Wasn't there something a few days ago about how he wasn't hitting well at all and they were calling someone up from AAA to take his starting job. Some speculated that was just to light a fire under the guy but you never know. His market value is interesting, because he is also a free agent at the end of the year(pretty sure). From my perspective, Cairo, is not the big problems this team is having. It is these guys who are not putting it together for us at the plate. It seems like everyone other than Jeter, Posada and to a lesser extent Melky is having trouble at the plate. I'd rather try to deal for Rios. -Jitpal

Well to be fair, very few pitchers do such a 180 in one year as he did. He certainly has some value now, although not much.

I wonder if we could do grab Alex Rios, Scott Downs, and Jamie Vermilyea for Villone, Sardinha, and Clippard? -Jitpal

I think we'd have to give up much higher rated prospects than guys like Sardinha and Clippard. They're both mid level prospects, although I'm a BIG fan of Clippard.

I'm practically through with Duncan. If we can get something of value for him, do it.
