Yankees @ White Sox - Game 1

Post#1 » by ReggieFULLeffect » Tue May 15, 2007 9:37 pm

New York Yankees (17-19)

vs.

Chicago White Sox (18-16)

It'll be Mike Mussina vs. John Danks tonight. Mussina comes in with a 4.76 ERA and a record of 2 wins and 1 loss. Danks comes into the game with an ERA of 4.33 and a record of 1 win and 4 losses.

After being SHUT DOWN by Horatio Ramirez on Sunday, let's see if the Yanks can turn things around tonight and get things back on track. Hopefully we get some fight and heart out of the offense. Go Yanks!

P.S. -- Peter Abraham's blog is stating that it is POURING at U.S. Cellular Field right now so this game might have to wait. However, no official word has been given.

I am in the Chicago area and it poured earlier. You should be delayed a little bit since rain is still pushing thru.

Here's the lineup for tonight:

YANKEES
Damon DH
Jeter SS
Rodriguez 3B
Posada C
Matsui LF
Phelps 1B
Abreu RF
Cabrera CF
Cairo 2B

Also, Sean Henn was optioned to make room for Ron Villone. There is some Phil Hughes news as well from Peter Abraham's blog :

Among the news items to come out of Tampa today was word that Phil Hughes has not been cleared to pitch from the half-mound yet.

He has been on the disabled list 13 days. So those optimistic projections by the Yankees of him being back in four weeks were clearly mistaken. Hughes has been cleared only to play catch and jog.

By way of comparison, Chien-Ming Wang was off the half-mound within five days of his hamstring pull and he was out for a month. His muscle tear was much smaller than the one Hughes suffered.

There is literally a half-mound that injured pitchers throw off of in Tampa. The difference in grade puts less pressure on their legs.

Bob Lorenz just said they are going to try to play the game in "a window of opportunity" around 9:45/10:00 so we're gonna have to sit tight. I agree though, I have a feeling this game won't be played. Which sucks.

I honestly don't see why this game hasn't been cancelled yet. We go back to Chicago later in the year.

Agreed. This is all a waste of time and it can't be good for Mussina.

How does it screw up the Mets series? It was going to be Pettitte, Rasner and Wang. I think we will be ok. -Jitpal

If Wang and Mussina pitch tomorrow, they'd be on short rest Sunday. So they'll have to go with Desalvo on Sunday instead of Mussina.

Actually that wouldn't work either because Desalvo is pitching Thursday. So unless I'm forgetting someone, we don't have a pitcher for Sunday.

Gee, anyone else surprised at the quietness the Yankees omitted in the top of the 1st?
