Torre: Proctor won't be suspended
Associated Press

BOSTON (AP) - New York Yankees pitcher Scott Proctor was told he won't be suspended for hitting Boston Red Sox infielder Kevin Youkilis - the fifth hit batsman in Friday night's game.

Yankees manager Joe Torre said before Saturday's game he got the news from general manager Brian Cashman.
"Getting hit is part of the game," Torre said. "If you take pitching inside away, you can't survive in this game."

Youkilis approached the mound after he was hit by a pitch that veered near his head in the ninth inning of New York's 9-5 victory. The benches and bullpens emptied, and Proctor was immediately ejected.

Proctor was suspended for four games last month after pitching inside and sparking a brawl against the Seattle Mariners.
