Will Nieves was the catcher tonight
we took Damon out of the liineup because of this and we had to put Posada at 1st so we wouldn't lose his bat. I'm sorry but we can't continue to work like this Cmaff, C34 or anyone else it's not hate here it's the little things w/ Moose that get me, he has to throw on a certain day, he has to chew gum at a certain minute , needs to spit on the mound a certain second, now he needs Nieves to be the official catcher ? who is this guy to get this special treatment ? :nonono:

Oh please, give me a damn break. Posada needs a break someday from behind the plate. Wil Nieves is our backup catcher. He is going to get some time behind the plate.

We lost because of the other 7 players who didn't hit.

I know you hate Mussina as a person, and that's cool, but he pitched a good game today.

Blame the offense for not showing up today. Mussina pitched well. We didn't hit.

And who is Moose? Well he's only been here for 6 years and has pitched very well for us the last 6 years. I think he's earned the right to have a preference. It probably won't last the whole season, but he's earned the right.

I can't believe you are asking who is Moose and why does he get special treatment... how long have you been a Yankee fan? Come on man, Moose has been a very good Yankee for us for a long time. He's a very important part of this team.

since 2003 Moose has been dropping off, tell me now why he can't have Georgy behind the plate ? Nieves tonight came in batting .116, that imo when your out 8 games in the AL EAST and 4 games in the WILD CARD should not be continuing.

You seem to forget last year when he had a 3.51 ERA. He's been a very good Yankee for us.

I do think that Posada will catch some Mussina games as we get deeper into the season, but Posada does need days off. He just can't catch all 162 games.

Blame Cashman for having an awful backup catcher.

But how the hell are you going to blame Mussina for tonight's loss when we squandered numerous scoring position opportunities when Nieves wasn't at the plate? Mussina had a quality start (6 IP, 3 ER), I'd take that from him every frickin time? Wouldn't you?

where at the point where we can't let up damn skippy if he has a special catcher and loses I'm calling him out, it's always this special treatment w/ Moose and we almost got Georgy hurt at 1B tonight, I definitely would call out a guy like this, how does Mussina dictate who we put behind the plate and Nieves can't even throw

Do you realize how much of a wear and tear your body takes from catching 162 games a year? Posada can't do that, he's getting older. I don't care if we had an off day yesterday, you need to conserve the guy and make sure he doesn't wear out before the end of the season.

By your theory Posada should catch all 162 games of the season. Thank goodness that won't be happening.

who said 162 games and really Georgy is wearing out what told you that his .344 batting avg or the fact he is batting .345 w/ a .404 OBP in his last 10 games, yeh Georgy is worn out  sorry Cmaff but you can tell Georgy wanted to catch today and you could tell Cano and Jetes were wishing he was throwing those balls to 2B

Whatever you want to believe man, but you have to be crazy to believe that Mike Mussina was the reason we lost tonight. He pitched very well, our offense didn't show up. End of story.

STILL as each day passes I value your opinion less and less. You bring some good stuff to the table with your minor league news. But the Mussina crap needs to stop. He's also the reason for the war in Iraq, global warming, and rising oil prices isn't he? Is Moose the reason we only had 7 hits and couldn't get a rally started. Yeah Nieves is no all star, but 6 hitters in our lineup were. Couple that with Melky and our lineup should beat Josh Fogg. Go back to your hole

If you look at Jorge's career, he tends to cool off as the season wears on because of the toll catching all those games takes on him. He needs as many days off as we can give him to keep him fresh. For someone who was calling for Torre's head because he overuses pitchers, you sure seem eager to overwork the catcher.

Moose only has this personal catcher because he's been doing well with Nieves behind the plate and doesn't want to tamper with a good thing, but it's not like he CAN'T pitch to Posada; they've worked together for the last 6 years to good results. Let him ride Nieves until he gets shelled once or twice and you'll see Posada back behind the plate for Moose. Considering that the last series we played in Colorado was the highest scoring series in history (unless something happened in the last 5 years I'm not aware of), I think we could afford to take Damon's bat out of the lineup and give him another day off to rest his calves.

Beyond that, I don't really understand what you have against a guy that has proven he can produce and play at a high level with an array of pitches that will keep him in the game for a few more years easily. With Moose, you usually know what you're getting. Every pitcher hits his rough spots, but it's nice to have a known commodity on this staff instead of a Karstens, a Rasner, a DeSalvo, a Chacon, etc. etc. Moose will give you a low 4, high 3 ERA every year, about 15-17 wins, and has the mentality to succeed in New York. If there's an option to take that spot that you can think of that will provide that kind of production, consistency, will enable us to win now and doesn't involve waiting on a rookie pitcher to acclimate to major league hitters, I'd like to hear it, but the grass really isn't always greener on the other side.

Okay, your blinded hate for Mussina has reached a new level of stupidity. If you think that Moose is the one asking Torre to start Nieves, you are greatly mistaken. Torre did the same thing with Flaherty and Randy Johnson just because it worked and it was a great way to get Posada's aging body an extra day off or two every week. Johnson never once requested it, Torre just realized they worked well together and stuck with it.

And to blame Moose for the loss? Any pitcher who allows 3 runs in 6 innings and is backed up by an offense that should score 5-8 runs a night should expect a win.

Blame the anemic offense, stop with those Moose **** already, it's tiring and incorrect.

Yeah, cause Posada's been great throwing out runners at a 13% clip!

so your more comfortable w/ Will Nieves being our catcher w/ Moose on the mound ? so this stuff is going to continue every Mussina start, sooner or later that stuff comes to bite us. If Mussina could just man up and pitch to the plate and stop w/ the none sense I'd lay off but we're losing these types of game because we are fixing what's not broken, Damon or Cairo should have been at 1B yesterday and Posada should have been catching imo.

Once again you are telling Moose to man up, IT IS JOE TORRE'S DECISION. The sooner you come to realize that, the better off everybody will be. Nieves catching did not cost us the game last night, we have the offense to score 6 runs. Replace Nieves with Cairo and you have the same offense, so what are you talking about.

so then Torre has to stop tinkering w/ this damn lineup when it's clicking

There is no way to avoid tinkering with the lineup when we go to an NL park. We have no choice but to sit two of Posada/Damon/Cairo, and he chose the worst two to sit. I don't see the problem with that, especially considering how well Moose pitches with Nieves behind the plate.

I was just gonna ask didnt Torre asign Nieves 2 catch for Mussina since they work so great 2gather? Thx for answerin that.

Mussina pitched good yesterday, blame da offense for not gettin the big hits they should of got.

Dude still, its getting pathetic that you need to point a finger at someone after any loss. You would never survive as a professional athlet, sports columnist, or announcer. We're going to lose games. in baseball even the best teams lose 60 games a year. Relax, lay off of Torre and Moose. You want Cairo at first, its not like he was going to win that game for us last night. Get real.

I dont really have a problem with Nieves catching Moose.Moose has pitched very well with Nieves and is comfortable with him

And it doesnt matter if Nieves cat hit for ****.Thats not his job.We have 7 other all-stars in the same bating lineup,if none of them can hit and score runs then we deserve to lose the game.
