you better cross out Hughes and Chamberlin because if you want Cabrera in a yankee uniform, you wont them in 1.

That is quite possibly one of the most outlandish thoughts of this off-season I have ever seen.

Giambi released? No way, this man was once an MVP and still a healthy Giambi gives you 30-35 home runs and 95-100 RBIs. He draws a ton of walks. The man has value, perhaps not at his current deal, but he has value. There is no way he is let go, perhaps the Yankees take on a bunch of his salary and deal him for a couple middle-of-the road prospects at best and that is considering he waives his full no trade clause.

Sign Barry Bonds? Are you insane? Barry Bonds? Why? The man is a cancer for the team. He finds the SF media over bearing, imagine the drama with the NY media. He has absolutely no value once he breaks the record. What the hell is the point?

Let Arod go? Arod is the best player in baseball, no matter who you get, the team will get worse without Arod. You can't get much better at 3B, you won't get any better at the plate and now he isn't even cracking under the NY pressure. He is embracing it, he has the best 9th inning numbers this year. If he wants 30 million a year for the next 8 years, you do it.

Yeah, let's trade for Miguel Cabrera, I'm sure a package of Eric Duncan and cash will get it done. Getting him will be terrible. We would have to deal Hughes, Chamberlain and Kennedy to get into the conversation for him. It isn't happening. You would be gutting the entire minor league system to get him and he still wouldn't be an improvement over Arod.

Let's release Damon? Damon can still hit, hitting is valuable. It would be smarter to let him play out this year and see what he has and what our options are this summer. No one else on this team can leadoff except Jeter(but that opens more holes) so if he can handle it then we keep him as the 5th outfielder and the DH. If he can still hit, then you pick up some of his salary and deal him to an offensively challenged AL team. Damon, like Giambi, still has a name in the league, so a team can sell him to their fans as a big acquisition.

Abreu? Sure, his deal is up. Just don't pick up his option. I support that and if he keeps playing like he has, there is no way his option gets picked up unless we find a deal for him.

Ichiro? Like him and I wouldn't mind him either. Although, not for 5 years and 100 million. Doesn't look like it matters as he looks like he will resign with Seattle soon.

Clemens is on a one year deal. I don't think he would even come back next year after the debacle of this year with him.

Pettitte will be back next year unless he can't pitch anymore. Why would you want him to go anyway? He has been our best pitcher all year aside from the last two starts. Plus, what he has meant to this team over the years, there is no way you release him.

Moose should be traded to an NL team in the hunt, especially if we can't get back into it. Get a B-level prospect or two. Moose can surely fetch us that.

Farnsworth needs to go. I've been an advocate of a Farnsworth for Shane Victorino swap for a while. I hope we can do a deal like that.

Doug is fine. Doug is a defensive 1B who was actually starting to hit when he got hurt. Granted he wouldn't be a .300 player but he can hit .260 and be a very solid contributer on a world series caliber team. Regardless, he is on a one year deal, so who knows if he comes back next year. If we don't get a good defensive 1B, I bet we see him come back.

Pavano. Sure, he is gone already. With TJ surgery, he won't be back.

If all goes well with Chamberlain and Kennedy they will start next year at AAA and will have the same schedule as Hughes did this year. They will only come up if we have injuries and/or when they are ready.

Eric Duncan is a scrub.

Lidge is not worth it. I'd rather go after Joe Nathan with big bucks this winter for being a setup man and then replacing Mo in '09 when he retires.

Re-sign Posada and Mo? No brainer.

Fire Torre? No need, his contract is up and he won't be back unless we do a dramatic 180 and wind up in the ALCS or world series. I really don't know why bring in Donny. He hasn't accomplished anything and the NY Yankees manager job not the first managerial job for someone. Bring is Girardi. Not only does he have a proven track record but he is a completely different voice to these players. Swapping Torre with Mattingly won't do much considering the games would be managed roughly the same. You need a new voice with Girardi.

You want to keep Igawa but get rid of Pettitte? :nonono:

Whoa that was long. -Jitpal

Our payroll would be approaching 400 million.....no im not kidding. Well maybe I am but it would be getting close to 300 million. Remember this isn't the NFL...those contracts are gauranteed.

Go bring this idea to any Major League GM. You will win Last Comic Standing. They will take you around country and show fans your ideas, tell them it could be worse...this could be their plan.

I agree with just about everything you said, although I'd say you wasted a lot of time and brain cells responding to a message that wasn't worth responding to.

Worried that a player isn't earning his eight-figure salary? Just release him and get another! (That's outlandish even for the Yankees.)

Yeah, I don't really know what came over me. It's probably because quite a few ridiculous things on the Knicks board then came here and saw that. It pushed me over the edge and I just had to lash out. I feel bad, because the guy is new and he was probably just really frustrated at how the season is going so far. -Jitpal[/i]
