The Taiwan Effect, definitely. Although he is the runner up, IMO. If he wasn't injured for the first part of the year, I believe he would be the team MVP.

It has to be Arod. Plays every day not every 5 days, plays stellar defense and had 30 home runs, 86 RBIs and 77 runs scored. Pretty sure all of those lead the majors at the all-star break. The man is front runner for AL MVP, he is absolutely our MVP. Wang was fantastic when he got back into the groove of things but he was out for a couple weeks in the beginning and then he didn't have his stuff the first couple of starts. He had an ERA well over 7 for some time. Plus, you can make the argument that Pettitte has been our best pitcher all year so how can Wang be MVP if he isn't even the been pitching the best all year? -Jitpal

Wang has been consistently our best pitcher. The guy has a 3.80 ERA and averages 7 innings per start. How many starters in the American League fit both of those qualifications? Not very many.

No one is saying Wang isn't in the discussion because only 5 players actually played all season. Pettitte, Wang, Arod, Jeter, and Posada. So those 5 guys have to be in the discussion for team MVP. Arod could be league MVP so he has to be the front runner. If he can be MVP from a larger pool of guys including the guys in the discussion from the smaller pool it would make sense to put him as the top choice. The thing I said about Wang is also, how is he the true MVP of the first half when it can be easily argued that he wasn't even our best pitcher in the first half of the year. Yes, Wang has more wins than Pettitte and a better ERA now but how many games did Pettitte leave with a lead in the 7th only to have the bullpen blow it? Then how many games did he lose where he only gave up one or two runs over 7 innings? Wang didn't have that horrible luck, he was injured when our bullpen was extra shaky. Pettitte's last two starts before the all-star break were bad and that caused the inflated ERA and WHIP. If you take Arod out of the running I really think it is a tossup between those 4 guys in Jeter, Posada, Pettitte, and Wang. However, Arod's numbers speak for themselves and in the 9th inning he has been unbelievable. Hitting close to .500, 9-10 home runs and 30+ RBIs if I recall. The last Yankee to lead in both home runs and RBI's was Roger Maris. Arod is having a year that will be profiled in history books as the pinnacle of perfection. -Jitpal

Please, give me a break with that hyperbole.

Arod is the frontrunner for team MVP, but Wang is a close second.

Don't get all statistical on us, we know their value....we watchi this team day in and day out...we know who performs and who doesnt.

Arod is our MVP

However, no one is going to forget how overworked our bullpen was when Wang, Moose, etc were hurt in the beginning of the year.

I think if our pitching staff had been healthy all year, and AROD had missed fifteen-twenty games we may be in better position the rest of the season. Thats just my opinion, you can say what you want about it but it won't change how I feel.

I agree. If we had a healthy rotation for the most part for most of the first half, we would be in much better shape, even without Arod's monster year.

But Wang has been our most consistent pitcher
