Especially considering that Mussina didn't even blow this game. 6 innings and 3 runs is a quality start, and something I'd take from starters almost on a daily basis.

He got us through the game. Ill still take Moose over most major league pitchers, but i'll admit that I dont think he has much left after this year.

I don't trust anybody but Wang in a big spot on this team. Clemens, nope. Pettitte, nope. Mussina, nope. Those 3 are all old, unreliable and don't throw hard anymore. You don't know what you are getting from those three.

Wang is the only current member of this rotation I really trust, and that reason alone is why we aren't going to go far in the playoffs, if we ever make it.

The worst part about this season is that Hughes didnt gain much experience. If he pitched straight through from when he came up, this season would have had meaning, regardless if we make the playoffs or not. Petitte has really dissapointed me the past month or so. He started out as our best pitcher but then fell off big time.

I agree. In addition to losing valuable experience, he also lost valuable innings. If he was healthy this year, he would have probably pitched 170 innings. There is no way he is going to reach that mark this year. We'll have to limit his innings big-time next year, and it's going to hurt us very much IMO.

There are 3 players that really piss me off. Farnsworth, Damon, and Abreu. If these 3 guys could be somewhat consistent, we would have 10 more wins.

By the time he gets back to the majors, he should have 45 innings pitched, then over the final 2 months of the season, maybe another 70 innings. So that will put him in the 110-120 range, and he will surely go on a program in the winter, whether he plays in the Hawaiian league or in Arizona. So he'll get his innings up. It would've been nice to have it done in the majors rather than in 5 different places, but at least it is something. But you're right, he will be have to limited next year on some level. Probably in the 170 range, which is where they would've liked him to get to this season, then cut him loose at 200+ next year.
