Brewers get Linebrink, give up prospects

Post#1 » by throwbackewing33 » Thu Jul 26, 2007 1:47 am

They gave up their 3rd best prospect who is only 20 years old and two other pitchers. I wanted to post this because we always discussed linebrink trades. What do you think the padres asked from Cashman in return for the 30 year old reliever who is a free agent after this year? The brewers gave up a huge part of their future for a reliever to help them with a playoff run. Was it worth it?

In the NL no team is really better than the other. Every team you look at there is so evenly matched. They have a shot, I wouldn't say this move puts them at the top tier because I still think the Dodgers, Mets and Braves are better but this move will help in that central division where it really is anyone's division. Good move for the Padres because they are not getting far at all this year and they will lose Linebrink. Good prospects for someone they were going to lose. Better than the picks they would get where they wouldn't really know who they were getting. I wouldn't do it if I were the Brewers but I see where they are coming from on this deal. -Jitpal
