New York Daily News - George Steinbrenner "looks dreadful," his "body is bloated" and "his skin looks as if a dry-cleaner bag has been stretched over it," according to a lengthy article about The Boss coming out in the September issue of the magazine Conde Nast Portfolio.

"He doesn't look all right. In fact, he looks dreadful," Franz Lidz, the author of the piece, writes in the story, which hits newsstands Aug.15. "Steinbrenner's face, pale and swollen, has a curiously undefined look.

Reports say that Steinbrenner may have Alzheimers also. It brings a tear to my eye to see this.....I wouldn't wish Alzheimer's on anybody.

I don't care about anyone's allegiance and everyone's hatred for the Yankees, this man was fun to watch and revolutionized the game. He is the greatest owner in all of sports. It will be a sad day when he goes.

Sad 2 hear bout this but u cant say u didnt expect this... just want him 2 no that wen he goes happen 2 find a successor and retire he is not gonna retire w/o a big ovation from da fans cuz he is gonna go down as one of the best owners.

Another reason why we should win it THIS year. Lets do it for the Boss!

Not sure how this relates to Steinbrenner, but I heard that was a good movie...might have to check it out.

Funny line....didn't see Steinbrenner might have alzheimers, or thats where this thread has gone.....ive seen alzheimers first hand. A lady that has a beach house in RI next to my Grandparents has it, its really sad and tough to grasp. I wouldn't wish it on anyone

Doubt it, but even if it did, our talent level and # of wins would probably still be higher than Toronto!

sucks that he has alzheimers, as cmaff said i'd never wish that on anyone, so hopefully he doesn't suffer too much. never really liked the guy but this sort of thing goes above and beyond sports.

hypothetical situation:

an owner forces all 25 of his players to juice up so that maybe they'll be better. they win the world series.

and you might want to read up on george's run-ins with the law. campaign contributions to nixon, the dave winfield incident, etc. you do know about those, right?

and celtic, show how me how he positively influenced the game. you can't. he began throwing ridiculous amounts of money at players to play and so everyone else had to follow suit to compete. look at where we are now. don't tell me i've lost it when i say something that a **** of people agree with. i know you're a yankee fan but take off the blinders for a second.

Fact of the matter is baseball has been on the rise since mid to late 90s, when owners make more money, the players want a bigger piece of the pie.

even without the yanks, teams like boston, ny mets, angels, cubs and dodgers would go into bidding wars among themselves.

only dumb signings hurt baseball, who else can the giants blame but themselves for signing zito?
