he opts out. LOL at this guy trying to play hardball with A-Rod. He knows damn well that when A-Rod opts out and Boston is offering 170 mil over 5 years, he'll be in the bidding. Let the games begin...

The Yankees are very serious about their stance on this because of Texas' $16 mil a year that is currently being kicked it. If he opts out and re-signs with the Yanks anyway, the Yanks lose all the money from Texas.

The Yankees will not get in a bidding war with Boston. If Arod opts out, he won't be a Yankee. Pretty simple.

Seriously. I remember Boston promising to spend the money they saved from NOT signing Clemens on the draft. How did that work out?

Toronto offers a 10 year contract worth minimum wage in Africa (guessing 10 cents a day) and the honor of carrying Alex Rios's jock strap before games (and after if he wants).
But seriously I love A-Rod. All he has done is piss off a couple of scrubs. And Towers is horrible anyway. I wanted A-Rod to beat his ass down so he could never pitch for the jays again.
I would take A-Rod on the jays easily even though our dumb ass GM probably wouldn't (and thats why the jays suck each year).

This is the furthest thing from a distraction, it's not even new news.

Not everything on ESPN is important, about 1% of what they make a big deal of is actually a big deal.
I'm sure zero Yankees watch ATH, so don't worry about any distractions. They're smart enough to know that ESPN only talks out of its ***.

Cashman is just saying what he has to. I doubt this means that they don't want him. Just means that they are more than willing to give ARod a big extension but it has to be an extension. My guess is that it all gets worked out in the end and ARod remains with the Yankees. And I can't see him wanting to play in Toronto for all the money in Canada.
