I expect a good performance out of Hughes today. Something alone the lines of 7 innings, 6 hits, 8Ks, 0BB and 2ER. Let's go! -Jitpal

Edit: I also think Betemit and Giambi will both go deep. Giambi twice. -Jitpal

It would be nice for Hughes to have a dominant outing that we all know he is capable of, but the kid was injured for half the year and I'm willing to deal with the growing pains. He's learning on the spot right now. All I ask for is for him to keep the walks down.

Jeter is banged up. He was limping off the field after the 8th inning last night... I believe he is 5 for his last 44. He needs rest.

The guy plays 155 games a year, geez... give him a break.

I okay with DJ taking a day off....we need him healthy for the BoSox series.....besides, Betemit has shown to be a good fill-in player. Last game DJ was out Betemit played well....so Im not as worried as I was when we'd have Cairo filling in.

I'm not getting on him, I'm just saying the odds are against us anytime DJs out along with one of our best hitters this season out as well.

^^ after Giambi's HR you heard an "AHH" on TV. it was Jurrjens and they just said it was shoulder soreness.

Our starting pitching outside of Pettitte and one start by Wang has been pretty bad for several weeks now. Kind of tough to make up ground when you have to score at least 6 runs to have a chance to win most nights.

I agree. This offense has had to carry this team all year. The pitching has been horrendous this year.

I don't think it was Jurrjens though. Theres some 'heckler' over there than you can hear screaming right now if you're really watching the game. Some loud mouth, but I don't think it was Jurrjens that yelled like that it was definatly the fan.

And another thing, Hughes gotta go. He nearly gave up a homer to Casey just now on two seperate occasions. Please Joe get the bullpen up and lets hold the Tigers to 5.
