Tabata sucks and isn't as good as either Upton or Maybin obviously, but you get the point.

He's got the skillset to certain go straight from the AA to the majors if he's successful in AA, but I doubt the Yanks do it.

He just had surgery to remove his hamate bone a couple of weeks ago and he is out at least another 4 weeks, so he won't be in the AA playoffs.

Also, I can't imagine the Yanks pushing Tabata straight from AA the way the DBacks or Tigers did with Upton and Maybin. They are taking it slow with Tabata and letting his game develop as much as possible before he reaches the majors. Obviously if he destroys the EL that will be a different story, but it's just a wait and see game.

As they have shown this year they will do with everyone. But instead of making the big deal they will call him up if needed.

Ive heard Kay say he amy replace him.

Tabata will start next year in AA and I wouldn't be surprised if he was up in the bigs around this time next year.

We should just pick up Abreu's option for next year and see how Tabata does in the minors with eyes towards bringing him up next September and full time the following year.

If he is healthy and hitting for power, I would agree. He could spend half the year in Trenton and half the year in Scranton and end up here after the year is over. But keep in mind, he just had hamate surgery.

It's a bone in the wrist area and they actually remove the bone in the surgery. It takes a long time (almost over a full season) for guys to get their power back, although their swing is fine. Since Tabata doesn't have tremendous power right now and is so young, that shouldn't be a concern of ours.

He'll probably replace him in 2 years.
