Andy Phillips told us that he has a fractured right wrist, the result of getting hit by a pitch yesterday. He is about to be examined by a specialist. He is likely to be out for the remainder of the season.

It has been a bad 18 months or so for Phillips with everything that has happened to him.

Doug coming back, Giambi playing a better 1B plus guys like Shelley and Betemit is huge now. Looks like all of you who wanted to DFA Doug will have to hold that because he is easily our best defensive 1B and he needs to be in there in the late innings. -Jitpal

Tough break. I guess Doug is more relevant than we figured he'd be.

I like what Phillips has done, but we should be okay with Giambi, Dougie, and Betemit.

Tough break for Andy, he's the guy I really want out there over anyone...I was there Sunday when he got hit. I really get scared watching guys like Betemit and Giambi play 1B.
