The million dollar question....

Do you want Arod back next year???

If he opts out, the Yankees will likely have to pay him $30+ million a year for the next 5-7 years. If he doesn't opt out, we have the Texas discount for the next 3 years where we'll only pay him $50 million of the remaining $70 million on his existing contract until 2010.

I voted for Option D: No. I don't want him back if he opts out. I'm tired of the Arod circus. The Yankees and Arod need to go different ways. If he opts out, then the Yankees need to say goodbye.

but we have to keep chokerod, who replaces his bat in the season if he leaves?

I want him back, the greatest talent in baseball needs to be in pinstripes. Plus, who can we replace him with? There is no one available that does what Arod can do.

I believe Cashman when he says he doesn't want to get into a bidding war. He already has to worry about Posada and Rivera and fixing a fairly bad bullpen. We've won without ARod before, I'm sure we can do it again. I'd be glad if we can bring him back but forget him if he opts out.

I believe Cashman too but we all know how George gets. What if the Mets can move Reyes for Santana? Arod looks mighty good for them at SS. What if the Red Sox want to end the Julio Lugo experiment and put Arod at SS? What about when the Angels say they need a guy to hit next to Vlad? Let's say even the Orioles look to reset, trade Tejada and get a new SS to pair with Roberts and Markakis? That Orioles team doesn't look too bad then does it with guys like Bedard coming back. The only way Arod isn't back next year is he is willing to take less money to play elsewhere. If he wants to be on the Yankees or wants the most money he will be here. -Jitpal

I wouldn't be so sure about that. Even if the Yanks are "out of it" the Mets, Cubs and Red Sox are still there. We all know they have plenty of money to spend and even if we are out of why wouldn't Boras float out some rumors about Cashman reconsidering his 3B problem. Secondly, other teams might feel like they have more of a chance so they might raise the price among themselves, like the type of team that would feel like they couldn't compete with the Yanks so why bother. Obviously if the Yanks are in it, it would be better but I would be surprised if Arod walks away with anything less than $30 million a year on a contending team. -Jitpal

Yeah, pretty much. The Yankees can offer a bunch of cash PLUS Texas' money. I don't know what team is going to be able to do more than that.

I don't know if he would go back to SS now. It seems like he has settled into being a third baseman.

i see what you are saying, but we have the richest team and the most $$$$....boras knows that, so he has to keep us in the game....taking us out really hurts wat arod could get

im willing to give him the 5 yr 150 mill xtension he wants, so that would make it 8 years at 241 mill (taking into account his current deal).......i think thats pretty good, but if he wants 10 yrs and 300 mill, then he can go somewhere else

Yankee Stadium - 399 FT

Yankee Stadium swallows up most of his left center flyballs... they are outs in Yankee Stadium. They would be HRs in Wrigley Field and Yankee Stadium.
