Meanwhile just spoke to somebody I know who is tight with Mariano Rivera. He said that Mo is more determined than ever to test the market after the developments of today.

we can offer him the most dollars, so if its bout money, he will stay

We could, but I don't think we'll go past 3 years, and some team will overpay for him.

Yeah we are one team, but we are the one team that has paid him 10.5 mil bucks a year.

We will be the team to give him 4 years and 56 million. He will be around. A-rod will get his huge extension because of the Torre backlash. Posada and Pettitte are the two guys I'm not too sure about. My gut says that Posada will be offered a huge 4-5 year deal from the Mets. Maybe even something like 4 years 88 million. In turn I don't think Pettitte comes back. His catcher is gone, his best friend is gone, and I bet he doesn't feel like coming back. -Jitpal

There is ZERO chance the Mets offer Posada 22 million per year so just get that crazy thought out of your head. ZERO chance.

Would it have hurt all that much to offer Joe a friggin 2 year deal?

A good faith one year offer would have been optimal too. The situation was handled horrendously from start to finish. The braintrust was prepared to lowball Torre by the phone, but Joe, being the classy guy he is, volunteered to fly out to Tampa and negotiate another deal. He was in Tampa for an hour... that tells you how much Levine, Hal, Hank and Cashman wanted Torre back. They made a slimey, transparent as day low-ball offer so it looks like they won't have blood on their hands when in this matter is all said and done. Most of us see this charade as what it is: spineless and a slap in the face of a guy who has shown nothing but loyalty to this franchise since Day 1.
If this is the way this organization will run under the directive of Hal, Hank and Randy Levine then we can say hello to third place.

I think that Cashman wouldn't treat Torre like this. He saved his job last year. But it begs the question how much power he truly has if his opinion wasn't truly voiced in this matter.
It makes me absolutely sick to see that slimeball bureacrat Randy Levine running this team in any shape or form.

lol you joking? plz? 22mil for POSADA? first off i wouldnt take him for free, but i wouldnt pay a player of his caliber and age(and being a catcher) even 1/2 that per year.. dude cant block a beach ball, is bound to fall off after that huge season, his bat speed was laughable in the postseason.. 22mil? this is the same jorge posada were talking about right? arod at 25mil sounded alot a couple years ago, but JORGE? cmooooooooooooooooon.. ill say theres a 0% chance he even gets 15mil a year unless its from the yankees..
