Who do you guys want as your next manager? Bobby V.

Post#1 » by KnicksManiac » Fri Oct 19, 2007 2:16 pm

In order...

Bobby Valentine
Joe Girardi
Tony La Russa
Don Mattingly
Carlos Pena
Trey Hillman
Larry Bowa

As a Mets fan, I was shocked to see Bobby Valentine's name come up as a possibility. I honestly think he would be the best fit for the job. It would pain me to see my favorite manager of all time go to one of my least favorite teams of all time but I guess I'd want what's best for Bobby V. The way he handles those Mets teams of the late 90s was awesome. Every year it would seem like he'd get the most of his young players.

Bobby Valentine is intriguing, but it will never happen due to the politics.

I agree. VERY unlikely. But trust me, he'd be the perfect man for the job.

i think Girardi is the perfect fit right now for this ball club...

hes already had managing experience and has had first hand experience with the NY media and fans...

i dont believe mattingly is ready, i really dont....

i think girardi will handle the younger players well (which he did in Florida)....hes got history with some of the older players (Mo, Posada, Rivera) which will ease the minds in yankee land that they will be come back to play in a familiar situation....

hes a great LONG term candidate to take this team to the next level...

now the best part....

no matter who the yanks decide on chosing as their next manager, there will be an extreme amount of pressure put on that man to WIN and WIN NOW....

if mattingly was hired as the next manager and missed the playoffs given the talent of this team as well as the teams overall salary, how do you get rid of DONNIE BASEBALL???....

if girardi doesnt succeed or just butts heads wit George and Co. do u think the yankees would have a problem giving him the axe and making mattingly our next manager???....

mattingly gets the experience of another year as the bench coach, and the yanks have the perfect scapegoat as to why this team is in turmoil...

ALTHOUGH.......id love to see girardi succeed here in NY, and i feel he can and will givin the opportunity...its a win-win situation for the yanks

Yankee fans should embrace Bobby Valentine- he would do a great job. Can handle the media, more charismatic than Joe Torre.

NO Valentine is coming back to the Mets after next season...

Yankee fans can have Willie Randolph back.
