That's laughable. This team scored 970 runs this year. That's a historically good number. Boston faces those same pitching staffs too.

Perhaps our advanced scouting is not where it should be. But to say that our offense is overrated and that we benefit from the Orioles and Devil Rays pitching staffs of the world while completely ignoring the fact that Boston plays in the same division is just high comedy.

P.S. The Blue Jays had a very good pitching staff this year.

I'll say B, Kandi. I think Carmona would have pitched much better versus the Sox if he were pitching at Jacobs Field.

He faced the Red Sox earlier in the year at Jacobs Field and was dominant: 8 IP, 4 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 6 K.

Considering how your offense has been non existant the past two seasons, I believe it's a viable option. Of course, some of it is due to better pitching from teams that are actually BETTER than New York. But you would think with so much money invested, with such "highly touted" players, you would think they would actually produce for once.

Besides, you're kidding yourself about Baltimore and Tampa Bay. Without those two horrific teams, your beloved Yankees don't make the playoffs. Try arguing that and you will just be laughed at. More so than when you backed up money truck for Roger "the savior" Clemens this past season and sent poor Suzy into convulsions

But hey..maybe i would feel the same way if my team had such a ridiculous payroll and continued to fail. I'd need someway to justify it, right?

Btw, spare me bringing up the numerous championship rings that you had nothing to do with. The Yankees haven't won jack since 2000 and with that outrageous payroll, that in itself is the biggest joke of all.

Carmona simply isn't pitching as well against Boston. Perhaps the Yankees game took a lot out of him. He's not pitching inside to lefties/away to righties, and he was keeping a lot of balls out of the zone. Don't forget, David Ortiz did his best to destroy this kid's psyche last season with two walk off HRs in a series (I think they were back to back). This may have thrown his command off just enough, especially where he is a sinkerball pitcher who has a ton of movement on his pitches. He may be nervous to groove one down the middle, not dance enough, and see it deposited in the bleachers. Home Field advantage for the Sox may have thrown Carmona off his game JUST enough that his command went south and his whole game fell apart.

That and the Sox offense came alive at just the right time and they feast on pitchers who can't stay in the zone. mahalo

Your really educated let me tell you that, if the yanks don't play tampa or baltimore we don't make the playoffs? Yankees were 10-8 against Tampa and 9-9 vs Baltimore. Without these 2 teams, we have alot better record you fool. Look at the Red Sox vs these 2 teams. Red Sox were 13-6 vs Baltimore and 13-5 vs tampa bay. So wait, these 2 teams were the reason WE made the playoffs? HA yup! You take away those 2 series and the yankees have a better record then boston, kthx. Did you watch the game or did you look at the stat line?

IMO, he was getting a bit squeezed on some calls, especially to the lefty batters. He threw a TON of borderline pitches that some couldve definitely been called strikes, but none were.

There are SO many factors... setting, ballpark, pitching background, weather, the cold.

He simply couldnt locate his pitches this time around, he left them up, didnt get soem calls, and got rattled.

Its all about location, if a pitcher has it he is going to succeed...if he doesn't he will likely fail.

I think it's just that Carmona sucks against the Red Sox. Maybe he has a complex after giving up two walkoffs in a series last year. And the Red Sox kill pitchers who don't have good control.
