Honestly, I used to like this guy. After what Phillips is reporting about the Arod demands to the Mets and how he is manipulating the fact that Joe has left is so low for me. This guy truly will do anything for the bigger dollar- him and boras, its really sad.

He also suggested the Yankees' upcoming negotiations with Mariano Rivera, Jorge Posada and Andy Pettitte, and their decision on whether to exercise right fielder Bobby Abreu's $16 million option will also be factored into Rodriguez's thinking.

Although its true that the Yankees do want to keep these guys, I love how Arod is trying to hold the Yankees hostage here. I'll only sign if you sign these 3 guys too- and did I mention I want 10/300mil?

And then watch when A-Rod GRACIOUSLY doesn't exercise his opt out and takes "less money" than he would make in free agency so he gets the positive press. This is all Boras B.S. spin - I don't attribute any of it to A-Rod.

Who gives a crap? It's going to be the guy's last BIG contract (in terms of years) of his career, so of course he is going to milk it for whatever he can get out of it. If his "uncertainty" about the organization lands him an extra $5 onto his total contract, then good for him.

I'm tired of the Arod drama. Let him go squeeze every last penny from another team. For a guy who hasn't done crap in the playoffs for the last 4 years and has a pretty average (for him) 2 out of 4 years here, he sure has some nerve.

I do find it funny about Joe. So Joe leaving has an impact on your decision but you don't even make a statement one way or the other about joe until he's gone? One would think if it was that big of a deal then you would come out & say something publicly before a decision on Joe comes about.

Scott Boras is good at his job because he knows how the squeeze every last bit of leverage out of negotiations. He's never going to be popular in the eyes of owners, GMs, or the average fan. Nor should he be.

Exactly. ARod isn't a negotiator, he isn't an economy major, he isn't a businessman. He leaves all of that up to Boras. Sure, it would be nice if he said "forget all of that Scott, I want to be a Yankee at $10 million a year because I love the city and the fans." But guess what, that isn't reality.

Even Jeter, the "Yankee" and the great loyal human being, took the Yankees to the bank for $180 million. Lets not forget that Jeter was about to sign for $100 million until ARod got his huge contract. So Jeter also wanted market value and milked the Yankees. That is what these athletes get, and their agents do the talking. Deal with it.

This is a team game, if it weren't for Arod, the yanks wouldn't even have made the playoffs this season.

Dictating what a player can do. It's protected under the CBA. If the yanks don't want him that is fine, but it will be because the yanks are cheap and no other reason.

If doesn't matter who the player is, they will always look for an extension or opt out when there is a chance of a better offer.

Except nobody is going to get what Arod will get this offseason and it won't be even close. To call Arod's future deal market value is laughable.

I never said ARod's deal is going to be market value. I said he is simply milking every penny from the Yankees, and why the hell not? Does he owe the Yankees something? Did we treat him so well that he should be loyal and not want as much money from us as possible? I don't see what he is doing wrong.

What if he landed with the Mets and proceeded to lead them to the World Series. Would you still feel the same?

Yes. Same thing with the Red Sox. I don't care if he lands on a bitter rival. He hasn't been able to put this team over the top. Let some team pay him $30 mil a year until he is 45. I hope the Yankees don't.

Its Boras job, cant really blame him for doin his job.

If anything, Hope they can come up with a FAIR contract, because ARod does deserve it more than we think, but if Boras and ARod gets greddy let em leave

pro sports treats these guys like a piece of meat, i'd get all i could too.

Both sides are making a stand here and their prides will be what kill the negotiations between them. To be fair to the Yankees they are saying that no single player is bigger then the Yankees. To be fair to A-Rod this is going to be his last contract so he wants to get the most out of it.
