I was thinking of a platoon. Betemit hits righties very well, and Ensberg hits lefties very well (.830 OPS last year).

idk im not a fan of ensberg. we need an actual bat in the lineup. know what im sayin? he was the biggest power threat and after him we really don't have anyone else like that.

cabrera would be nice but FLA would ask for way too much. I remember reading in an article in the midst of the speculation on arod opting out that FLA would be asking for a package like hughes and cano...no thanks

The Yankees were quoted in an ESPN the magazine article of saying that Robinson Cano would move to 3B if AROD were to leave because that position naturally suits him more than 2B, and he has the developing power to thrive there.

Still, we have to bring in someone to make up for some of AROD's production. I like either Miguel Cabrera or Miguel Tejada. I obviously wouldn't pay the same price for Tejada as I would Cabrera, but if we could move Tejada to 2B and move Cano to 3B, I think that would make for a pretty good infield. Just another option I think.

Wouldn't it be easier to move Tejada to 3rd than Cano to 3rd?

Here it is, via Buster Olney in an ESPN the magazine article:

At 24, Can

That would be very interesting, and I would be in favor of it. A good 2B is easier to acquire than a good 3B too... We could sign Mark Loretta as a stopgap.

There's only like 4 players that can produce what AROD can, so there is no way we are just going to find one player to replace him. Cabrera would be a great replacement, but that's going to cost us a couple of Hughes, Joba, Cano, and Wang...and I'm not willing to give that.

I was thinking of Cano at 3B just the other day, I think that would work well. We would need a new 2B, maybe Iguchi? No to Cabrera and Tejada. Cabrera can hit but he is lazy and a horrible defender. Tejada is likely going to move to 1B and I really don't like him. It's also unlikely that Baltimore would want Tejada up against them 19 games a year.

So move Cano to 3B, get Iguchi on a short deal for 2B and pray that Giambi thinks that it is the year 2000. -Jitpal

We don't need to replace someone at 3B necessarily. I would rid of Abreu and/or Matsui and bring in a bat there instead and sign someone like Loretta at 2B.

Arod will be back at 3base next year bc no one but the yankees can offer him the money that he wants. not the cubs, red soxs, or any other **** dum ass team in the league. if not he maybe takes paycheck to go some were else it would be lowell
