What are the chances of Barry Bonds playing for the Yankees?

I think Bonds should go to the same team as Arod. Maybe they can even look for that winning team together because The Yankees apparently are not it. Maybe they can sign with the Giants or Marlins. I hear they are the winning teams these days. -Jitpal

He'd be perfect in New York. You could have a rotation at LF/1B with Matsui and Bonds with each of them getting some time at DH when Giambi is hurt or playing first.

It's the smartest thing they could do. So they won't do it, and instead will spend 16 million dollars on Bobby Abreu.

That's sarcasm, right?

* Bonds plays when he wants to.
* Bonds is a giant media circus
* Neither Bonds nor Matsui have ever played a single MLB game at 1B
* The Yankees need a RHH, they are already lefty-heavy with Damon, Abreu, Matsui, Cano and Giambi

Thanks, but no thanks. There are already 3 DHs on the roster, and Posada will need some at-bats there as well.

EDIT: Typo

I'd rather spend $16 million on Bobby Abreu than over $100 million on Dice K, the 6 inning man.

You forgot to mention:

* Bud Selig will never allow Bonds to win a WS while he's commish.

We don't need all the money Bonds would generate, we have plenty. Some team would benefit from signing them both. Arod loves money so he'd love to play alongside the player who's holds the record he's chasing. Bonds needs somebody to take some of the attention off him and he seems to like Arod.

We already have an overpaid, left-handed, steroid-using hitter who can only DH. No thanks.

ill bite

Pettite pitched 7 or more innings 17 times
Matsuzaka Pitched 7 or more innings 14 times

Pettite has 215.1 IP Matsuzaka 204.2 IP

To put this in perspective, both pitchers pitched more innings this year than Chien-Ming Wang, 199.1 IP.

100 million might be overpaid, but Matsuzaka is a good pitcher, you'd love him on the Yankee staff, thats for sure.

This has little to do with Barry Bonds, the clear favorite to be the free agent most worth the money it costs to acquire him.

But the Yankees will have paid Abreu 31.6 mil (plus whatever from when they acquired him in 2006) after this year.

The Red Sox will pay Matsuzaka 52 million over 6 years.

CT, right smack dab between New York and Boston bro. Glad something like that could bring you to a giggle.
