Good. No other real option for us & he played great post allstar break.

Well we did but not in the way you'd immediately think. I think picking up Abreu's option means Melky Cabrera's Yankee career is over as soon as we decide whether he's going to Florida for Miguel Cabrera or Minnesota for Johan Santana. That would then open the door to the Yankees bringing in someone from a group that includes Tori Hunter, Aaron Rowland, Andrew Jones and possibly Ken Griffey Jr to play center field.

No to Andruw Jones.

& I trade Melky for Santana but I think all this Cabrera talk is just that, talk.

i'm not sure what everybody else thinks of Melky, but i'm in the 'he's shown enough upside that maybe something special is indeed developing' camp.

here are his comps through the age of 22:

Similar Batters through Age 22

Sixto Lezcano (974)
Max Carey (973) *
Chet Lemon (970)
Rick Manning (969)
Harry Heilmann (967) *
Roberto Clemente (966) *
Cliff Heathcote (963)
Carlos May (963)
Les Mann (962)
Jimmy Sebring (961)

I completely agree regarding Jones but I am just putting his name out there because technically he is an option.
