From mlb trade rumors
Pete Caldera of the Bergen Record has the scoop: Mariano Rivera has agreed to the Yankees three-year, $45 million offer. Caldera's source is a friend who spoke to Rivera today, so I suppose it's not official official.

Caldera also reports that the friend said, "He would have taken two years and an option." Wonderful. So not only did the Yankees overpay, but now it's rubbed in their faces.

I guess the reports about demanding a 4th year were overblown. He probably asked for it and the Yanks shot it down and that was it. I wonder how true the idea of an option is.

Glad to hear, Rivera needs to finish his career in pinstripes.

Our next move is probably to resign Vizcaino, and maybe another arm or two for the bullpen.

Yeah, that would be nice. Buster Olney for ESPN Insider says we are the front-runners to land lefty Ron Mahay right now and have serious interest. He is a type B free agent, so I think this could mean that Vizcaino isn't returning based on the Type FA rules, although I've heard mixed reports on this.

I remember reading that the Yankees had no interest in bringing Vizcaino back as soon as our season ended.
