all these talks about we are giving to much here is a trade that people hated in 2000 they where saying> "we are giving up 4 good future players" and two where in the top 15 prospects back then and now they are no way to be seen, im not saying we came out winning with Danny but he was a winning pitcher before he came to NY had about 6 winning seasons. so Hughes who knows what he will do we dont know yet until he pitches a full season as for Cabrera I will miss his arm thats about it his batting does not impress me so I say we should just welcome the trade if it happens

Ahhh Denny Naegle....the difference here is we are giving up two players who have proven they can be successful in the Bigs.....And you know what, its worth it because Johan Santana is 5,000,000 times better than Denny Naegle.

What has Phil Hughes proven? Or Melky Cabrera?

I think Hughes will be really good, but he hasn't proven anything.

Melky has proved that he can't drive a ball worth a damn and he's a little slap hitter whose range is centerfield is not very good. The only redeeming thing about Melky Cabrera is his arm.

The better memory would be back in 98 when we didn't trade for RJ & instead held on to Hideki Irabu & Homer Bush.

Homer bush did help us net Roger Clemens back in 98. he and wells and lloyd

Hughes came up huge in the playoffs, which is something the Yankees need and hes still young, he also through a no hitter through 7 and then got hurt and left the game. Cabrera not only led the league in outfield assists last season (which is important) but he also hit extremely close to .300 (i think 297 or something), with a bunch of sluggers in the lineup it doesnt hurt to have a player that can get on base. What if we trade Melky are we going to go back to having Matsui or Damon at CF or will be bring up Tabata? I dont want to give up on the young players that we have picked over the years because weve seen in the past years that the successful teams have team developed talent.

It was 7 innings. I repeat, 7 innings. You can't take anything from 7 innings. What he did in the playoffs this year is not a complete indication of what you should expect from him over a full season.

Jeff Suppan has come up big in the playoffs. Paul Byrd. Should we go and acquire them?

No, it really isn't. Manny Ramirez routinely leads the league in outfield assists, it really means nothing in the grand scheme of things.

No, actually he hit .273 with a .718 OPS... which means he was below average and even a liability at that position..

Melky got on base at a .327 clip last year, which is a below average rate at getting on base. If you are going to tell us about Melky's positives (I'm still searching for them), let's at least hear a real positive...

Damon is getting paid $13 mil a year to be our centerfielder the next 2 years. He was very good in centerfield last year. He was injured this past year. I see no reason why he can't hold the fort in centerfield.

I dont want to give up on the young players that we have picked over the years because weve seen in the past years that the successful teams have team developed talent.

Like the 2004 Boston Red Sox? Or the 2005 Chicago White Sox? Or the 2006 St. Louis Cardinals?
