wow I like this for any of those 2 pitchers but I doubt Hideki will waive his no trade clause and then we can send who ever we get from them to Minny W/ Melky and Ian
. . The Giants asked about Hideki Matsui and are talking to the Blue Jays about Alex Rios for pitchers Matt Cain or Tim Lincecum. Matsui has a full no-trade clause

Matsui said after the season ended that he would waive his no trade clause to certain teams.
id def trade matsui. im not really a fan of his. so either of those pitchers id take for matsui.
SF has a large asian population so SF maybe a place hed waive his no trade clause to go to

I would trade Damon long before I would trade Matsui. The guy who needs to go back to the Bay Area is Giambi. Too bad he ever left.

I'd love to get in on Sabean's apparent undervaluing of his young pitching, but I don't think we have the pieces. Our current outfielders are too old aside from Melky, who doesn't have enough of a bat to be bait in this situation. And the outfield farm hands are a couple years away.

Why would SF think of trading Lincecum for Matsui? I don't see any incentive for them to do the deal.
Saying that, I would ship Matsui out so quick for Lincecum. I couldn't imagine a future staff headed by Hughes, Lincecum, and Joba.

i sure hope if cash got a call about this he seriously didnt think twice and is just waiting to hear from Matsui to pull the trigger

it was written somewhere, i'll try to post it after i get back from lab
we'll could get Lowry for Matsui
but we'll have to throw big name prospects to get Linecum or Cain included

Just a small blurb from Elliott - the Giants and Yanks have discussed Hideki Matsui. Elliott notes that Matsui has a full no-trade clause. He makes $13MM in each of the 2008 and '09 seasons. On November 8th, Ken Davidoff noted that the Yanks would prefer to move Matsui over Johnny Damon. He added that it could be embarrassing for Matsui to leave New York.

Maybe we can give them Abreu and Melky and get back Jonathan Sanchez and that crappy outfielder who didn't know how to track down a fly ball to save his life. Just joking fellas.

I think Matsui might be more embarrassed being a full time DH hitting 7th in the order than being the star player for the SF Giants.

As long as the Yankees trade Matsui to a big market city, I think he'd waive his no-trade clause. Places like New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco. I don't see him waiving his trade clause for somewhere like Milwaukee though.

Wow, people here are certainly down on Matsui. He's the best all around left handed hitter the Yanks have had since Paul O'Neil. Just put him in left field and hope he stays healthy.

I don't think anyone is too down on him. I'd only deal him if we could get Cain or Lincecum in return.
Plus he is not a left-fielder, he'd mostly a DH as we have Damon playing left field. Matsui's knees are shot and we also have Giambi (who is primarily a DH at this point) already so it's sort of overkill.

SNY said hideki would waive his no trade clause if new york initiated the trade talks because he would feel dishonored. if new york didn't initiate it, then he would stay in new york.

Bobby Abreu is better.

It sounds like Noah Lowry and others would go your way, at least from what I've heard.

Ugh. We have no use for Lowry, whereas Matsui's bat will still come in handy this year. Please don't tell me they're just unloading Matsui so Giambi can DH and Duncan can start at first.
