What to do?

It seems that unless the Yankees give up Ian Kennedy as part of a package with Phillip Hughes and Melky Cabrera (plus at least one other mid level prospect) we won't be getting Johan Santana. I think that really sucks but I can understand why the Yankees won't do it. But what comes next? Something else has to be done to improve this team because as things stand right now we have almost the exact same squad the crapped out in the playoffs two straight seasons. I do not want to have to depend upon Jason Giambi finding his stroke. Are there any realistic options to improve our lineup?

Do we go after Mike Cameron?
Do we try to lowball Seattle for Richie Sexton?
Or do we pray that between Giambi, Betemit, and Duncan we can get enough offense out of first base?

I don't really like any of those options? Are there any other realistic choices out there for us?

If we get Richie Sexson I'm out.

1B should be a Duncan/Miranda platoon and I definitely see that happening by June

That doesn't inspire any confidence.

Miranda has a legitimate 1B bat, I fully expect him to be our 1B sometime during the season and fulltime starting in 2009.

With Cameron signing with the Brewers and Kotsay about to be traded to Atlanta our the list of potential center field replacements for a traded Cabrera have dwindled to the point where I don't really think it makes much sense to trade Cabrera. It has gotten to the point where Damon is looking like one of our better center field options. :noway:

We aren't trading Cabrera.

Especially since his potential replacements look like $hit.
