Would you want Barry Bonds on the Yankees?

There's been talk of Bonds going to the D. Rays. Why, proabably cause nobody else wants him & his attitude & baggage. Plus he's probably washed up. But for many years the Yankees seem 2 want every single person to ever play the game of baseball on their team. I'm surprised they yet haven't tried 2 sign him. Bonds, i'd have no problem with going there. Since 2001, he talked about wanting a WS ring. But I think that this is another lie he's telling cause if he did really want a ring, he woulda stopped staying in Frisco cause THEY WILL NEVER WIN A WS! It woulda made sense whenever he was a free agent throughout this decade, cause other players go to the Yankees trying 2 win a WS.
If he was ever gonna win a WS, it would more likely be with the Yankees & not Frisco. The D.Rays will get 3rd place in the AL East b4 Frisco will ever win a WS. Only way the Giants will win one is if they moved back 2 NY. Make him a DH, you don't have 2 worry about him missing an easy fly ball once in a blue moon.

No reason to bring Bonds here. We're trying to get younger and clear out the dead weight, not bring on old players with more baggage. The NY media would tear him apart anyway.

If he wasn't a locker room cancer & if we hadn't gotten so beat down in the Mitchell Report & if we didn't already have a glut at DH. Bonds would have a monster year with the short right porch in YS.

Horrible...just horrible.

I would want him if there weren't so much baggage, and he didn't have a federal indictmint looming...who knows if he'll get to play an entire season....

On a short-term contract, sure. Probably makes us the clear favorite to win the division. It won't happen given the team's stance on him and the roster situation. At bare minimum, they'd have to deal Matsui to open up a spot for him. Part of the reason the Rays report caught some media fire is that Tampa is arguably the best match for him in the league right now.

oh god no hes not worth the risk, hes ego-maniac, self-centered ,whiner, and immature (plus we have two guys of that nature already).

Roger Clemens didn't have the federal indictment looming over him last season, he also wasn't a raging prick to anyone and everyone in his way...only Mike Piazza.

Sure, give him a 5 year deal for 18 million a year. That's what George would have done.

Steinbrenner speaks, what else

He can still rake, period. I don't care about the off the field issues. The guy will help us win a championship.

Absolutely not. He has a ton of baggage and is a clubhouse cancer. He can't field anymore, and we already have a former juicer locked in as our DH in Jason Giambi. The Yankees need to try to distance themselves as much as possible from the steroids era after recent events, signing Bonds would do just the opposite.

Unless he can handle the 7th or 8th inning who cares. Does anyone really think he is that much better than Giambi in the end, both are huge health risks, at least Giambi is only 36 not going on 43. We don't need both that is for sure.

The Yankees have enough offense, not to mention DH's...what they could have used is a good shot of speed and defensive aptitude in the OF. Barry Bonds is just NOT a need at all, whatsoever. And Bonds is a 24-and-1 player if there ever was one. He has his own ROW of lockers (yes, a whole ROW) and a private (yep, only he can watch it) giant HD TV in the lockerroom when he was with the Giants. The Yankees need to go back to the formula that worked for them when they were actually winning championships. Bonds would bring another circus of distractions here that this team just does not need regardless of how many juiced up balls he can hit out of Yankee stadium.
