Post#1 » by ItsaVC3 » Fri Mar 7, 2008 4:25 pm

#3 not signing barry bonds
#2 Didn't put Joba in the Rotation
and the number one thing the yankees will regret doing
RE-SIGNING A-WHO TO A 10 YR when u could have use betemit or go get someone to replace him
if u fans think he going to bring a championship to NY u r wrong the only time we will be seeing a championship is in 10 yrs when A-WHO is gone

Of all the things you could've said, you chose the 3 most ridiculous and wrong ones?

...or any sports knowledge at all. I've always said this about the guy.

Joba WILL be in the rotation eventually this season.

Barry Bonds, while his bat would be amazing, isn't what this team needs. Not after the steroid filled winter the Yankees had. Not when you have a brand new manager. Not when you are in the biggest media outlet in America.

Wilson Betemit as our everyday 3rd baseman would be a disaster. Who else could we have traded for anyway? I love when people simply say "we could have got someone else then proceeds to name NO ONE.

I'm in the minority that wouldn't have objected to Bonds--contract length pending--but with the glut of DH-types on the roster i'm not gonna call the non-move a mistake either. The other two just hurt my brain. Even if you don't like the ARod deal, do you really think he's going to immediately start sucking?

Something remotely resembling correct punctuation would be a nice start, VC3. Baby steps.

What a horrible post. If you're going to start a thread you might want to bring some logic...

I'd say #1 would be not bringing in a better reliever than Latroy Hawkings, because Joba will be in the rotation at some point this season.

#2 is not trading Wilson Betemit for that reliever and bringing in another utility infielder. Betemit is not that good and there are plenty of guys who can bring a .220 average to the lineup but they also bring a much better glove. We have plenty of pop on our bench and his bat is not really needed.

#3 could be not bringing Joe Torre back, sure we can all make the arguement that there was a change needed but what happens in May if this team stumbles out of the gate again? Can Girardi get them back into the race the way Torre had done for the previous 11 years?

All I can say is everyone is entitled to their own opinions....

I disagree with yours ......

Re: Torre:
The unabashed love Torre is giving Juan Pierre out in LA is evidence enough to me that booting him can't be a bad thing. And honestly, I think Girardi may be tapping into whatever effect a manager really has on player performance by pushing everyone into shape. If it makes Giambi productively healthy and makes Jeter less of an abortion defensively, Girardi was well worth it.

I sort of agree with your first and second points, though i'm not sure there was much out there in terms of relief help that wouldn't have required bad contracts.

Not signing Barry Bonds is something the Yankees will regret? We aren't in the early 2000's

The yankees are limiting his innings. Isn't he going to be in the rotation by about all star break? If so, I'd much rather him be a reliever for the first half of the season and have him as a starter the 2nd half, and throughout playoffs. As opposed to starting the season off in the rotation and having to go to the bullpen for the 2nd half/playoffs.

Third, since when is locking up the best player in baseball a negative thing? If I'm understanding this correctly you want the Yankees to sign Barry Bonds, but yet let Arod go?

I stopped reading when he said betemit would have been a good alternative to A-rod. Too bad for me he didnt put that first on his list.
