Cervelli with a fractured wrist

Yup, its ridiculous for that to happen in spring training. I was really looking forward to seeing Cervelli develop this year and hit in the same lineup as guys like Tabata, Jackson, and Nunez. We'll have to wait for that. It just stinks because wrist injuries can be brutal to come back from.

yea his season is shot
its 8-12 weeks in a cast, then once you get the cast off, you then have to rebuild the strength in the wrist, and then of course when you start hitting it takes a while to come from cuz its so easy to make the wrist sore again which then requires more rest etc

Elliot Johnson of the Rays ran over Cervelli resulting in the fractured wrist. A pattern is developing for the Rays. Carl Crawford ran over Houston catcher Humberto Quintero on last Wednesday. Then on Saturday, Johnson left his feet and slammed his shoulder into Cervelli.

Just saw the video, couldn't Betemit work on his arm strength in the offseason? I really don't see the point in having him on the team. His value is high right now, deal him. He's nothing more than a Luis Vizcaino or Luis Sojo with some pop. But he also strikes out a bunch.

Good grief, you have an unhealthy obsession with getting Betemit off this team. He's not nearly as bad as you say he is. He'll be a very good utility infielder on this team. Who cares if he strikes out too much? He'll give us an .800 OPS and good infield defense out of a utility guy. All we can ask for. He doesn't cost us anything either.

He didn't even have a .700 OPS for us last year, and doesn't have an .800 OPS for his career. So....

It will be very interesting to see what happens the next time the Yanks play Tampa. Specifically if Shelley Duncan has a chance to round 3rd and there's a play at the plate. Duncan was asked about what his reaction was to the Cervelli play and what he might do in that situation and he sounded like he'd probably just "try to play hard" just like Johson did.
