Here are the pitching matchups

Game 1: RHP Joba Chamberlain (4-3, 2.24) vs. RHP Vicente Padilla (12-5, 4.52) - Yankee hitters don't have as much experience/success against Padilla as you'd expect. Carl Pavano is actually our best hitter off him (2 for 3). The only other guys hitting over .250 off of him are ARod (2 for 7) and Cano (2 for 5). The only guys with homers off him are ARod and IRod. So its a good thing we have Joba for this one, but his only subpar start this season came against Texas (the night he simply had zero control and walked the ballpark).

Game 2: LHP Andy Pettitte (12-8, 4.18) vs. LHP Matt Harrison (2-2, 7.40) - No Yankee has ever faced Harrison. He completely sucks, in 24.1 innings he has walked 14 hitters and struck our just 4. Absolutely a must win game given the matchup, and Pettitte is the type of guy who bounces back from rough outings, plus the only core player of the Rangers with any success off Pettitte is Kinsler.

Game 3: RHP Sidney Ponson (6-2, 4.23) vs. RHP Tommy Hunter (0-0, 10.80) - Same as Harrison, we have never seen him. He has only thrown 5 innings in his entire career. This would be a must win, but we suck against guys we have never seen and Ponson can give up 35 runs on any given night.

Game 4: RHP Mike Mussina (14-7, 3.44) vs. RHP Scott Feldman (4-4, 4.97) - Jeter has the most at bats against Feldman (just 4), so not much of a sample size to base anything off of.



Considering that we have our best 4 going and we are facing a couple of guys with minimal experience and absolutely zero success, anything less than 3 out of 4 would be unacceptable especially when you consider the momentum we should have from today's win.

well my rich friend is a huge yankee fan and invited me to go tomorrow, excited to see joba, annoyed that i have to put up with all the douche fans down here

id say the best we could ask for is a split, youve guys have won the last 10 in texas

padilla vs. joba is interesting, padilla's been a little inconsistent lately. harrison vs. pettite, pettite kills us, we have an awful record when we face a lefty starter, and since our rotation is in shambles hunter and harrison had to be called up, harrison definitely isnt ready for the show, even in his 2 wins he's been hit hard. ponson i hope gives up 19 homeruns, guy can jump off a cliff for all i care, racist drunk prick is what he is. mussina normally pitches great against us too so if all goes well you should take 3 of 4 from us but hey we werent supposed to take 2 of 3 from yall last time so we'll see. this ranger team is always a threat, especially at end of games.

These games will be slugfests.

I agree with nykgeneralmanager...anything less than three out of four would be a huge disappointment.

We have to win 3 out of 4.

Second day in a row where Girardi has left a reliever out to dry. Yesterday, he got bailed out. Today, not so much.

Well, that sucked. That was the turd filled cherry on top of a sundae full of doom and gloom. -sigh-

Yeah that was a tough situation tonight, but I can't blame him for refusing to bring a rookie in to a bases loaded situation in the bottom of the 9th. If anything he should've had Veras warming up rather than Robertson so that he can bring him in the middle of an inning.

tough loss. Nady's homer and then marte just gets wild, loads the bases and gives up a GS to a guy with 6 homers.. wow.. we needed mo for sure..

with tampa and boston losing tonight, a missed opp. time is ticking we can't afford these types of losses..

This is example #1 of why even though Mo has had trouble in tie games this year (in a small sample size), I'd rather have him out on the mound over any other pitcher on our team.

Yup, and even for Mo's scrutinized "struggles", his ERA is still about 3 in non-save situations, which is still better than 95% of relievers in baseball. Sure its not like his 0.33 ERA in save situations, but he isn't exactly a failure in non save situations.
