Way to put Mo in a situation to succeed, Girardi.
He gives up a BS cheap hit to end the game... he should have been in to start the inning.

Agreed, or leave it to Marte.

The Yankees are now 63-55.
They have 44 games left.
In order to win 94 games, like they did last year, they need to go 31-13 to finish the year.
Not happening.
Will the Yankees get to the playoffs by winning 90 games? Doubt it. But in order to do so, they need to go 27-17 to end the year.
The Yankees have never been this bad this late in the season for a decade.

Oh come on. That's an out, its a 10 hopper that Betemit should have had. He screwed up on the defense and that's how it ended. There is no one better than Mo, everyone knows that. Who else would you have brought in at that point? Marte didn't have anything left, you have to bring in someone. Bill Traber? Jose Veras? Edwar Ramirez?
You want to be upset at something? Be upset at the poor AB's after Arod's hit in the 1st. Be upset that no one could bring in Damon, Christian etc. when they were on 3rd base. Be upset at the umpires for that strike call on Christian and the bad call at 3B when Arod was safe.
What did this team in today is the same thing that has done it in all year. Poor hitting with RISP and no breaks. I actually think Girardi has done a remarkable job considering all that has happened this year. Losing 50 home runs and 200 RBIs for an entire year with Posada and Matsui. Down years from everyone outside of Arod and Damon. Outside of Moose everyone in the starting rotation has been hurt or ineffective. The bullpen has been greatly improved under him and I'd say the only thing you can hold against him is some of his lineups and some in game substitutions. -Jitpal

I am not upset at Mo, quite the opposite. I don't know how you got that idea. That was a great pitch by Mo and bad luck that it went to the outfield.
I blame Girardi for Mo not starting the top of the inning.
He really didn't give Mo any margin of error.

Well the rule of thumb is to never use your closer to start an inning on the road in a tie game, it never happens so you can't expect it to happen today. As for leaving Marte in, he had just walked the #9 hitter so I don't see how you could trust him to hold that game with the top of the order coming up. This game has to be on the offense (yet again) or even the umpires way before Girardi. This season has been a manager's nightmare.

Ok that is a fair criticism. When I read what you wrote at first, you made it sound like you were angry that Girardi put Mo into a tie game situation. I think he had to leave Marte in there. Billy Traber, Edwar Ramirez, David Roberston, and Darryl Rasner were either going to fail in that situation or have been used too much already. So Marte, Mo and Veras. In a tie game, he needed to get length. I see why he kept Marte in, plus he was facing the 7/8/9 guys I believe. You have a fair criticism but I don't think he had any other choice. If he put Mo in the 9th, then you basically give the team 2 innings to score at best. Then again, leaving in Marte gave them no innings to score. Catch 22- Jitpal

Time to put a ribbon on this season, because it is a wrap. Luckily boston lost and the wild card is our glimmer of hope, but this team is just not good enough at this point and just not consistent enough.... We don't scare anyone and teams now find many ways to beat us.... we are just a average team now... nothing more... Time to concentrate on football season, the jets are relevant again, and the yankees are fading, and fading fast.... Maybe next year we will have a healthy hughes, joba and wang, plus hope that mussina and petitte can come close to what they did this year.... Stick a fork in us... we are done..

Girardi does not know how to manage the bullpen. Marte is not a 2 inning pitching. He blew the game in Texas trying to go two innings, he blew it yesterday going 2 innings. The sooner Joe sees that, the better chance we'll have to win more games.
