I watched this guy get out of a bases loaded , no out situation. He has a nasty changeup and he can throw the fastball at 91mph from what I have seen. I remember him comming onto the scene last year, and the kid seems to be a competitor and has good stuff. Where did we get him from, and does anyone think he can be a true setup man. I was just interested, because we just seem to use him as middle relief, but with a changeup like that and a decent fastball, should we give him a shot at set up?

No, he is too home run prone too be a set up man.

He has good stuff for a middle reliever.

We actually picked him up from the independent league and he has been downright dirty throughout the whole minors.

He's going to have his bumps in the road as he is only 1+ year in the majors, but with him and melancon next year we will have a very very good bullpen.

I'm a fan, and supporter of him, but he is still young.

Not a set-up man but great middle reliever. I'm wondering if the season has worn on him because I feel like he was better earlier in the season, but I think he is a valuable prospect.

They needed to fill one of their minor league rosters, so they snagged him up from an independent league solely by just looking over his stats there. Reminds me of Mo as well, but also some of AZ's Juan Cruz.

We better not get rid of him this offseason, he's a definitely a guy we need to keep for the long-term.

If Joba does start 2009 in the bullpen, then I'll okay with the "core" of the bullpen being Rivera, Ramirez and Chamberlain.

That's a solid 7-8-9 combination, but our starters will have to get through six - and we'll need someone ready and worthy of taking over as a setup man when Joba goes back into the rotation.
