its so obvious he doesnt want to come here and he is just using us
this being on the west coast thing is overrated, during a season, at most, you are in ur team home city for 3 months (and if he was ok in cleveland, hed be fine in westchester), the other 3 mon are on the road, and u can live wherever in the offseason...its just a excuse, he doesnt want to come here, so why bother?
since hes using us, i say pull the offer to decrease his other contract offers (As payback), sign Sheets, Burnett, and Pettitte
Joba
Wang
Sheets
BUrnett
Andy
with Phil and Aceves for injury fill in
ok with me

3:24pm: Unconfirmed rumor from Andrew Baggarly: Sabathia declined the Yankees' offer. He still printed it though. The Giants are expected to meet with Sabathia this weekend; they'd need to get creative to sign him.
Bad news for you guys.
Maybe good news for the Brewers or the Giants who are entering contention.

3:39pm: Joel Sherman doesn't say anything about the Yanks' offer being declined, but he does say the Yanks have heightened interest in A.J. Burnett and Derek Lowe as Brian Cashman continues to wait on C.C.

If Lowe got off of his demands for a five year deal he'd be worth a look. Really, Burnett's a scarier option in a way.

ESPN and Ken Rosenthal have both shot down the CC nixing the deal rumor, BTW.

His away peripheral splits are a little worse in the past few years, but they're still not bad for a groundball pitcher. I think the ERA difference is a little misleading. He's a #2-#3 starter if he comes back to the AL East. The Yankees need someone who can reliably provide 200 innings of that, especially if Andy doesn't come back. So i'd be willing to give him a big salary so long as his deal only goes 2 or 3 years. Beyond that, i'm with you on passing.
If they can get Sheets for that offer, i'll be pretty happy with it. I'd much, much rather do that than give Burnett five years. They're both big gambles, but Sheets could be well worth the smaller risk.
