If the reports are true that the Yankees will get ace pitcher CC Sabathia, the Yankees just became more attractive to Jake Peavy, but that doesn't mean Peavy suddenly is clamoring to wear pinstripes.

"The Yankees would be more attractive if they get Sabathia," Peavy's agent, Barry Axelrod, said going into this week's winter meetings.

But Axelrod cautioned that Peavy prefers to stay in the National League and that New York isn't his first choice geographically.

The Cubs and Padres are deep in talks on a Peavy trade. If those talks collapse, the Yankees might become more of a factor.

I don't care if the Yankees have to give up Hughes and a bunch of their SUPER DUPER prospects, they need to land Peavy. Very few pitchers of his caliber ever get on the trade market anymore. He is light years better than anybody else left on the market...

He's an innings eater, he's pretty durable, he throws hard, he's a competitor, and best of all, he's only 27 and entering the prime of his career.

You start with Hughes and you go from there. I really hope we do not overvalue our prospects in this case. Rarely does a chance come around where we have a chance to add a pitcher such as him to our staff.

He's better than every other option on the market now that that Sabathia has signed. Let's not throw away money on high-risk gambles like Burnett, and sloppy seconds like Derek Lowe...

He's still a damn good pitcher away from home. I think a little bit too much emphasis is placed on his home/away splits. He is very effective against lefties, which is a plus at Yankee Stadium.

He also stays healthy, unlike your boy Sheets, who hasn't had a healthy season since the dawn of time.

Worth a try, I guess.

I don't get why Kevin Towers was painting himself into that "Cubs or nobody" stance earlier. No sense in going out and declaring you don't have a ton of leverage when the team you're dealing with doesn't have much to offer that they're willing to trade.

Unless I did it wrong, his ERA against AL teams is 3.29, and in the past 3 years is 3.21. Whats wrong with that again? Getting Peavy at just 27 years would be incredible. A strong case can be made that he is better than Sabathia and is younger with not as heavy a workload in the past few years. That would give us both cy young winners from last season.

Peavy is more than likely headed to Chicago. Lowe or Burnett will be the next to sign.

Well, looks like the Yanks are throwing the 5th year at Burnett

Peavy will most likely go to a NL team........we have more of a chance on landing AJ Burnett.
