I doubt we get Manny too.

I'm happy though.

<----- In utter shock. Def didnt think theyd pull this off. Now I can NOT wait to hear all the redsox fans start bitching!

Now the biggest losers out of this signing? The Brewers and the Blue Jays. The brewers now lose the yankees 1st rd pick i beleive and get the second rd, the jays now get the third rd instead of the second

This is awesome! I didnt expect to get Teixeira on top of CC and AJ, but this is huge! Defensively, we will have a more sound infield with Teixera on 1st. Our lineup sorely needed a bat with Abreu and Giambi leaving. I know it was down played because of our pitching needs but none the less our run production would have suffered next season. Having Teixeira protecting Arod is KEY! this signing automatically makes Arod better. Pitchers will also have to pitch to Jeter with Tex lurking on deck. Overall, this makes the Yankees so much more potent and dangerous. 8 years is a long time but Tex is still young. I love this so much more than the recent possibility of Manny in pinstripes. Perhaps just as important, Tex aint going to Boston!!!!!!!

I was just reminiscing about an Angels Yanks game I went to in August. It was back and fourth all game and the Yanks were winning in the 8th by 3 runs. Tex hit a grand slam to put them up by 1. We rallied and won the game but he almost single handedly beat the Yanks that night. I cant wait to see him go deep at the new stadium! Im pretty pumped for 2009!

I long for the days when baseball gets some type of salary cap or something as a Brewer fan. We don't even get a first rounder for the best pitcher in baseball last year just because another team has pockets that never end. I know this will be taken as whining by Yankees fans, but not even getting a first for Sabathia, that really amazes me considering that sports are supposed to be an even playing field.

I still wanna know: who is going to play the outfield?

I would guess Nady or Swisher get dealt, and the one who stays will be in RF. Then Damon in LF and Melky/Gardner in CF as a stop gap for Jackson

I am so excited about this signing. In fact, as a Yankee fan, Im just plain excited about this offseason and the upcoming season. The Yankees went out and did exactly what I thought they should....picked up some good starting pitching and got a great 1B to replace Giambino! Next season should be a fun one for the Yankees and their fans. :D Oh yeah, F*** Boston!

God damnit. He is not worth that much money. We could've gotten that hitting out of Adam Dunn for a third of the money.

All my friends say I'm crazy, but I think the Yanks need to go out and get another 3B. Primetime candidates to go after: 1) Ryan Zimmerman... 2) Garrett Atkins.... 3) Kevin Kouzmanoff.... 4) Hank Blalock.... might be other options out there.

If I was manager of the Yanks, I move A-Rod to DH so I can prolong his offensive career. Let Mark play everyday 1B.

I let Matsui play some OF again if he is healthy, otherwise I look to move him for a pitcher with Swisher addition (not too forget about some young talent being called up).

I would NOT go after Manny. Yanks simply don't need him.

Finally, I would be trying to bring in a spot starter type of pitcher. A bullpen guy capable of being a starter. Techinically, Yanks already got that with Joba, but I would bring in a vet and let Joba stay in a consistant spot.

The best thing about this is now the Sox have no replacement for Manny to protect Ortiz. That's even bigger then the additional bat to me (Manny's a better hitter and would come for less years). Tex makes us younger too...damn this is such a win for the Yanks. Especially since the pay roll is still lower then last year, makes the deal seem a little more reasonable.
