May be out 10 weeks (according to his brother) or up to 4 months if surgery is required (according to Cashman)

I guess Reyes would be a good fit...

Why does what keep happening to him? This would be his first major injury with the Yankees. His Quad pull was not major. Relax. Utley played with this all of last year and was pretty productive, no reason Arod can't either. He will have his surgery in mid-November right after the season is over. -Jitpal

this medical staff of the yankees is absolute garbage, if u spend so much $$ on the players, u should spend $$ to have great docs look after their health...he had hip soreness last season, why wasnt he evaluated then and after the season?

This is not going to end well. I have a feeling we are going to lose him to surgery a month or two into the season and he will be done until next season.

And this doesn't sound good...

he needs to get surgery as soon as that Col hip specialist can get him in

there is no point in trying to rehab and play, how did that work with jorge?

get him the surgery, and use the pitching talent in minors to get a stopgap at 3rd

Even Cashman admitted he's going to need surgery down the road. I just don't see how you can invest that much money into a player and roll the dice like this. It could work out, but isn't it better to err on the side of caution with a body part that's susceptible to repeat injury?

He needs to get the surgery. As much as it sucks to have him out until May or so, it's going to suck even worse when A-rod hurts himself more and is going to be done for the season. If the Yankees can stay within a striking distance with A-rod out (which they should be able to do) then he will add that much more to the lineup once he returns.

After all, they did spend over 200 million this offseason on pitching. The rotation is more then capable of keeping this team afloat until A-rod can fully recover from his injury.

The most likely answer is Cody Ransom. My bet, some guy we trade Melky Cabrera for. -Jitpal

Ehh.. They're saying 4 months now, I'd say he's better off playing now and doing the surgery in the off-season if he can deal with the injury and it doesn't get any worse.

Get the surgery and come back around the all-star break, no reason to play with the future of somebody like ARod.

arod is getting hybrid surgery, where they fix the labrum, but leave the rest to fix later...he'll be out 9 weeks...and needs more surgery after season

this is best solution i think

however, i still blame the yanks staff for not looking at his hip at end of year despite a mri during the year showing some irregularities

i think its time to dangle cats like kennedy to get a stop gap

If it's only going to be 3-6 weeks of the season that they'll be missing him (assuming this goes well) I think they can get away with signing Mark Grudzielanek as the stopgap. He'll at least get on base at a respectable clip. It's a shame Ray Durham has no experience at third because it's beyond me why nobody wants him in the first place.

^^Injuries are part of the game..

The other things like his divorce/madonna, steroids, clutch situations and the overall hate people give get brought up so much because:

He's one of the best players in baseball
He plays in NY and hasn't won anything yet
Being the highest paid player in MLB
Seems like an attention whore/douche..

:dontknow:

Good. We need him for the season. God knows he's useless during all other points of the year.
