Can't complain about this, really. Now they can skip Wang's next start without burdening the rotation or calling someone up and this can't be bad for the pen either. And it's one less game they have to play without ARod.

Kudos to the Yankee Stadium faithful for giving the Giambino a standing ovation.

I had no idea we had waived Giese. He was very servicable for us last year, i'm kind of disappointed we let him go..

Those types of guys are fungible. Honestly, he is no better than Jeff Karstens or Darrel Rasner...

MELKYYYYYY

very very nice win, you never want to lose such a long game and you don't want to split a 2 game home stand with the A's going into the Boston series. 3 in a row

Melky! Yeah!

Just an amazing sound and a great looking swing. Hats off to him and the bullpen.

I think Melky deserves some credit here. We all forgot about him and for the most part gave up on him. The way last season ended for him and then losing the CF job to Gardner in spring training, I thought for sure his confidence was shot and he was all but done in NY. Now he is tied for the team lead in HRs in just 23 at bats this season and is driving the ball and playing great in all 3 OF positions when called upon.

EDIT:
I don't expect all of that to keep up, but it is good to know that he kept working hard regardless and soon may have his job back if things keep going like this.

Last year we were 9-7 through 16 games, but we were under .500 as late as 61 games into the season (30-31)

2007 we were 8-7 and then lost 6 in a row to fall to 8-13
2006 we started 7-8 but turned it on and got to 19-12
2005 we started 6-9 and fell as low as 11-19
2004 we started 8-7 and then lost 4 in a row
2003 we started 12-3 and got out to a 20-4 start (completely forgot about that)

So basically, barring a long losing streak in the next week or two, this could end up being our best April in 6 years...pathetic
