Yankees vs Twins

Hughes pitched decent. if not for the 3 long balls he had a pretty good outing.. Damon getting ejected early hurt, and we just wasted too many opportunities vs liriano.. we had him on the ropes and A-rod and TEX fail again... the lack of clutch production from those spots along with swisher comming back down to earth is killing us..
Iooks like a loss tonight...

Hughes is no better than Igawa at this point... let's hope we get a good Wang back, and can begin to shop Hughes for another pitcher... does he still have value?

come on man.. he is nothing like igawa.... hughes avoided the big inning tonight, he just got caught twice by a great hitter in morneau....
Actually they were talking on baseball tonight about nasty pitches.. they had one of hughes curves he threw tonight.. the analyst said, he is young and can frustrate you at times, but he has some of the best movement on his pitches of any young pitcher in the game..... you don't give up on guys who can throw a 94mph fast ball with a nasty curve... you be patient..

Now THIS is a win. BIG game from Gardner.
Inside The Park Homerun in the 7th then a Triple against Nathan. Just Spectacular!

Melky and Gardner went 5-8, that is huge, plus gardner speed on the bases is great for us.. A-rod had 4 walks as well...
Our pen did a good job, holding the twins at bay..
PS: come on mods, why change my title.... whats up with having fun, no "Stinkees" ? loosen up... LOL....

Whats even more crazy is how Brett could of had another ITPHR if he hadnt fell at 1st. Wow he fell at 1st base and still got to 3rd easily. Dudes a speed demon

It got old like two weeks ago. The team's above .500, isn't it time for a reprieve from the ESPN/Rivals boards-style "puns"?
I'm really hoping this is a sign that Gardner's starting to adjust to hitting in the majors. In the past he's needed time to adjust when moving up between levels, so his early problems may have been a continuation of that. Keep riding out Melky while he's hot, but Gardner could be really handy off the bench.

Man Hughes can be frustrating. His stuff looks incredible sharp and crisp, his fastball is 93 mph and is popping again, and the curve has been really sharp, and the cutter is a good pitch for him. However, he randomly loses command for 10 pitches in a row and looks like he is about to implode before he regains it. I guess that is just the inconsistencies of a 22 year old pitcher, but his stuff this season gives me nothing but hope long-term. He's the type of guy that if/when it clicks whether he is 23, 24, or 25...look out.
Not to compare him to Grienke who had a peculiar situation, but you can't just quit on 22 year olds when they have stuff this sharp. You give them chance after chance after chance and hope it clicks one day like Grienke.

ehh. I don't hang out on those boards, but I do like to have fun, and the "stinkees" thing was a bit fun, but hey, this is not that serious for me, so whatever, I come here for relief, fun, sports...
As far as gardner goes he is showing signs of understanding major league pitching better. He is getting better swings(evidence the homer the other day) and heis actually driving the ball.... the thing I like is that we finally have a guy who can really get around the bases when the ball is hit to the gaps....
Melky is also playing well, and I would like to see more of he and gardner in there until one or both cool off.....

not to excuse him, but the ump screwed him over too...which would make that the 2nd time in his 4 starts
the potential is there, he just needs to be left at SWB for one FULLyear

Coke and Rivera are the only guys from our current bullpen that I trust.
The rest of the guys are so frustrating to watch because they are so inconsistent.
