Yanks @ White Sox: Welcome to the Ozzie Show!

Post#1 » by Dr. Detfink » Thu Jul 30, 2009 10:31 am

Despite going 3-7 in their last 10 games, the Chicago White Sox have stayed within striking distance of first place Detroit (3 games). It bears noting during that 10 game stretch the lethal combination of Dye, Konerko, and Thome have been in a bit of a drought. The return of Carlos Quentin should help with that.

Outside of the Obama momma denim, Ozzie Guillen is the straw that stirs the drink in the Windy City. Say what you will about Ozzie, he has made the White Sox relevant. He'll be sure to throw some silly comments the Yankees way. Be sure of it. Diarrhea at the mouth is Ozzie's game. It'll be entertaining if nothing else.

Game 1 Andy Pettitte vs. Gavin Floyd: Both pitchers are similar in gross stats but Pettitte has been 1-3 in his last 4. Can Andy break out of that slump? He'll have a murderous line up to go through in order to do it.

Game 2 Sergio Mitre vs. Clayton Richard: Or I like to call, the Washburn watch. The Yanks don't know what they are going to get out of Mitre but if they can get 5 innings out of the guy before throwing Melancon, Robertson, etc in the wood chipper they'll be content.

Game 3 AJ "Enter the Dragon" Burnett vs. John Danks: This is going to be a great game. Both pitchers are having tremendous seasons. Burnett hasn't gotten his chane up going but he is pitching with absolute authority. Danks record does not do him justice.

Game 4 CC Sabbathia vs. Mark Buehrle: The coupe de grace of this 4 game set. CC knows the white sox. I think he'll rebound. There's no indication that Mark is going to slow down.

What's your prediction for the series?

Top of the 6th 2 outs, Damon brings Molina home to tie it up. Can Alex deliver?

cano will cost us the game with his inability to turn a routine double play.. what an idiot play..

the Home plate ump is a jerk. He gives this floyd guy 7 strikeouts looking on a pitch the never touches the plate.. posada, tex, melky all didn't swing at it, over and over again.. and why? because it wasn't a strike.. Horrible job behind the plate..

potential bad loss!!!!

Lots of slop in this game.

The second inning run was manufactured off a bobble that made a single into a double.

Andy slipping on the grass set it all up.

Cano was always flirting with disaster with that half arm throw across his body. This time, he focused too much on the guy sliding into second. He should have jumped and threw straight on but he loves that cross body throw and just stepping out of the way.

Yanks have had their chances at the plate but A-Rod and Tex are cold.

We didn't deserve to win tonight. We had Nick Swisher as our hero. It's only ironic that Wise was theirs. This is what you get with bad defense and no run support.

Tough break for Phil Captain'n' Coke. If Phil lets that ball go, it's possible Jeter could have gotten to it but it ricocheted enough off of Coke, froze Jeter (who thought he might have had it) that it trickled into the outfield where Melky was too deep to get off a good throw.

The problem was, Hughes lost his stuff and put the men on before Coke much like Hughes inherited Pettitte's unfinished work.

I blame the loss more on run support. 14 SO and 1-8 RISP. That tells most of the story.

We were tied for the best record in baseball before tonight, you really can't expect perfection night in and night out.
