personally i am surprised he wasnt traded....i too believe Tor gm blew this one by setting the price to high and failing to adjust it as necessary...by setting price too high, it knocked away teams (aka yanks and red sox knew neither was gonna sell the farm) and by not adjusting their demands, other teams (aka phils) went to their plan b option

all in all, its gotta be tought to trade halladay, but i believe that tor gm has signed his ticket out of town after not getting it done

Not to defend Ricciardi's tenure too much, but the bulk of the Halladay saga was a media invention. JP effectively said several times that he would test the water with trading him but never committed to really doing it. Surprise, surprise, nothing actually happened. Ricciardi's biggest mistake was probably that he didn't try to shut the Heymans and Rosenthals up with more declarative statements, and even that isn't entirely his fault since he's still at the mercy of what these guys report. There'll still be plenty of time to trade Doc for a nice package in the offseason if they want to. Maybe they would've been better off trying to get something done with the Phillies, but it's hard to say for sure.

It wasn't so much Toronto's fault as much as it was Cleveland's fault. Cleveland gave up Cliff Lee for practically nothing, thus setting the bar low for trade negotiations.

One thing about Toronto, they wear their pitchers out. Riccardi and that jack ass manager Chris Benoit (they re-hired before Gaston) have been an ****. They criticized AJ Burnett for not pitching through pain, ran Ted Lilly out of town, rushed BJ Ryan back, and Halladay has a lot of innings on his arm. One has to wonder if you give up a king's ransom how much tread is left on the tire?

BTW if memory serves Halladay is 1-5 in his last 6 decisions. So it'll be interesting to see how the rest of his season progresses.
