Red Sox @ Yanks: If it Bleeds, we can Kill it!

Post#1 » by Dr. Detfink » Thu Aug 6, 2009 7:26 am

Here we go, it's a fight! It's a Fight! Bring it on!

The NY Yankees have lost only one series since the All-Star break and its time now, to break out the measuring stick. They gotta show something against Boston. ESPN can say it was the way the rotation was set up, the team coming together, new guys getting comfortable...forget the excuses.

It's time for the Yankees to show me something now.

Game 1 Joba Chamberlain vs. John Smoltz: Smoltz has been very mortal since becoming a Boston Red Sox. A hideous 7.12 ERA coming into Yankee stadium should make every bomber hungry to pound on this guy. The Yankees must set the tone of this series by getting to Smoltz early and milking that pen so the rest of the series is easier to feast on pitching.

Game 2 AJ Burnett vs. Josh Beckett: Part 1 of 2 in Show me something. Burnett is due. After 2 stinker acts vs. the Red Sox, it's time to get that change up working and deal. Certainly against Josh Beckett, I am not demanding a win but there must be progress.

Game 3 CC Sabbathia vs. Clay Buccholtz: Part 2 of 2 in Show me something. CC has only pitched against the Sox once this season. He was six outs from a win. He must continue his strong performance. This is why the Yanks brought him here.

Game 4 Andy Pettitte vs. John Lester: Pettitte has put together 4 decent starts can he make it 5? Lester has always been nasty against the Yanks. Can his luck run out once?

It's going to be a fun time in the Bronx!

Have to win games 1 and 3. Joba needs to set the tone and beat the Red Sox, who has the struggling Smoltz going. CC needs to be able to beat Bucholtz as well. I'm not expecting AJ or Andy to win against Beckett or Lester, but it would be nice to see AJ finally have a good start against them.

Either way, the Yanks have to at least split and I'd be very happy with 3 of 4.

And this is how you lose tight games.

Completely idiotic play by Posada. :nonono:

Well thanks to Posada it's still a scoreless game. I really can't believe he just did that.

And that is why we are 0-8 against this team. Something about playing Boston brings out the stupidity in the Yankees.

He's about to be at 60 pitches and doesn't even have an out in the 3rd inning.

That was awful base running by posada, but the 3rd base coach takes the blame for this one, KYP! Know Your Personnel, with 1 out the 3rd base coach should signals him to stop @ 3rd base, jorge posada is not exactly carl crawford....

Must be true, if it's a rumor you read on Hoopshype.

Partial blame to 3rd base coach, if Posada slided it woulda been easy score. It was a easy tag for the Catcher because Posada was standing straight up.

It's the third base coachs fault that Posada didn't slide? It was a great call to send him; he would have been safe by a mile (maybe not a mile, but he would have been safe easily) had Posada slid.

Need to take advantage of this. Bases loaded 1 out and a relief pitcher in. C'mon Matsui!
