The Yankees need to go 14-14 to win 100 games. They are rolling right now, despite Girardi trying to massage his boy Bruney's ego. He sucks, and he needs to be relegated to mop-up duty. I'm glad Joe realized that Damaso is more than a LOOGY.

white sox hammering boston 7-0 in the third, so it looks like our 7.5 game lead will stay in tact and the magic number reduces 1 more game....

typical crap. Halliday pitches like cow dung vs boston and every team it seemed this past month and he comes in and almost no hits the yankees... LOL.. wow.....

You can't be upset losing there with Halladay dealing like that. Obviously a loss isn't pleasant but that's a game you can afford to lose. Red Sox are losing, the lead is comfortable and the team is still rolling. Just start a new streak tomorrow, that's all.

Joba sucks.. 50 something pitches in 2 innings of work... yeah that surprises me..

Not mad about the loss though, you win some, you lose some. At least we lost against the best pitcher in the american league and not some bum.

It's real easy to get down on Joba for stinking it up on back to back starts but the reality is, it's harder than people think to be a starter. I love how people forgot how Hughes struggled as a starter this season before being put in the pen where he's been lights out.

My concern isn't Joba's stuff. He has better stuff than Hughes 2 pitch repertoire. My concern is his mentality. He's a very stubborn kid who thinks his game plan is the best way to go. well, hitters adapt and I wonder if they've zoned in on Joba's sequence.

Strong work by the Yanks, Andy Pettitte. With AJ Burnett struggling, Pettitte is once again asked to be the anchor after CC Sabbathia. Looks more and more likely Andy Pettitte will be the #3 starter in the 5 game series against the Detroit Tigers.

I think you mean #2 starter. and I wouldn't automatically assume we would be playing against the Tigers in the 1st round. With the way Boston is playing, it's possible Texas might just steal the Wild Card.

Tigers:

Game 1: Verlander
Game 2: Jackson
Game 3: Washburn

Texas:

Game 1: Millwood
Game 2: Feldman
Game 3: Holland/Hunter???

Hope Texas manages to win the wild card. I'd much rather face them than the tigers..

I'd still throw Pettitte in game 3. First of all, his numbers are way better on the road than at home. I don't know if it is directly related to the stadium or not, but Pettitte is not a strikeout pitcher like Sabathia or Burnett so he suffers in ballparks that favor hitters. More importantly, in a series that is tied 1-1 and going on the road, I'd want Pettitte on the mound over Burnett to put us back on top. Burnett has a month to figure himself out and get on the right track, but right now I'd still go with him in game 2.
