Sept 9, 2009 2721 official thread

Post#1 » by j4remi » Thu Sep 10, 2009 3:11 am

Guys, can we just come in here and celebrate an incredible Yankee feat. We witnessed history tonight, Jeter tied a Yankee record that's lasted halfway to forever. I thought he was gonna crack during his post game interview and Jorge was all red eyed in his. This is the first truly historic moment in the new stadium. In two days, Derek has a shot at breaking the record and standing alone...Salute to Jeter. I'm working on tickets to Friday's game now.

Really unbelievable, wouldn't want anyone else to own the record. Once he walked me and a few friends got bleacher seats for $50 bucks Friday. He better get a hit.

I would love, LOVE it if we could see all the a-ss-holes who voted Derek Jeter the most overrated player in MLB last year. I bet those weasels are eating their words now.

Not to take anything away from what Jeter did but it always seems like Gehrig gets accollades for almost everything except his baseball talent (his leadership, "iron horse" record, his demise, etc). but if you look at gehrig's stat they freaking mindblowing. his numbers are one step above pujols in almost every aspect of the game. he was just ridiculous. sorry to break this to you guys but jeter comes nowhere near the greatness of gehrig. he's in the second tier of the great yankees (with mattingly, etc). I mean the four guys on top (mantle, gehrig, ruth, and dimaggio) were un-f*ucking-believable. Between all four, they took to the yankees to the world series 30 out of 40 years. that's just mind boggling. Jeter is great but he's not in that class.

No one's saying he is...but he's a Yankee great, and will hold a legendary record and we can say we were alive to see it unlike those guys. So let's just celebrate this rather than bother with comparisons.

What hasn't been said that already has been said numerous times over the past few days? It's been a real pleasure, Derek, a real pleasure to watch you play... end of story.

That was a great moment...I wish they could have stopped and had even more than just the hugs. I want interviews now! LoL, I'm glad I have another moment in Yankee Lore to tell my future kids and their kids about.
