Angels @ Yanks: One night stand

Post#1 » by Dr. Detfink » Tue Sep 15, 2009 8:51 pm

Well, last night the Yanks got a good taste of a 5 game series set in the playoffs...and small ball was on display. Yes, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim were in town to show that once again their small ball approach owns the Yanks.

But wait, the Yanks were able to persevere on a Brett Gardner and A-Rod/double steal action in the key 8th inning. Gardner scored the go ahead run on a throwing error and Cano offers an insurance run by bringing A-Rod home.

Yes, that was a preview of things to come in October. Only one home run a piece early. Yanks pen had to come in early because Joba wasted a lot of pitches going through nearly 70 pitches in 4 innings.

Yea man, that's a taste of what is to come. This is why practicing small ball is a very important component to winning games because let's face it in a 5 game series....your two best go up against their two best. You do not want to be down 0-2 or even 1-2 because that's too much pressure on the offense.

Last night was a huge win in my book for the confidence because let's face it Yankee fans, the 5 game series hasn't been very kind to us in the last 5 years yes?
