Yanks @ Angels: Collapse 2.0?

The Yanks lead over the Red Sox is cut to 5 games as they head into the house of horrors in Anaheim. The Yanks are hoping the combination of Pettitte, Gaudin, and Burnett can do well enough to lose minimum ground to the Red Sox (who play the Royals).

Again, people overlooked the design of the Yanks rotation. Essentially any 2 starters must carry the load of 5 starters. Actually I am not concerned about the pitching so much as...the offense.

Yesterday, the Yanks offense was put to sleep by Ian Snell. Do we have to go back to the Baltimore series to remind us the offense has been shakey as well?

we're 5 games ahead of the red sox with 12 games to play...

You guys act like if the red sox are gonna win all 14 games they have left. All we need to do is win 7 more games and the division is ours..

The way you people act, one would think we were trailing instead of being up 5 games..

Heed the words of Reggie Jackson in 1981 after the Yanks went up 2-0 against the Dodgers, "Don't Say that. There is such a thing as going to the well once too often." (in response to a reporter who said the WS was over after the Yanks went up 2-0).

I'm not saying we should be in cruise control, but we shouldn't be panicking either.. It makes no sense to be terrified we're gonna lose the 5 games we have on Boston with only 12 games left to play. We're not the mets..

its not about making the playoffs, its about how we gonna do in them with just one starter?

So Andy Pettitte and AJ Burnett are no longer on the team?

burnett is gonna shelled in the playoffs, hes never pitched at that time and its harder to grip the ball....he'll have a mental implosion

andy has shoulder issues

Can you predict the lottery numbers too?!?!

As for Andy, he's missed ONE start..

For boston: Buchholz is young and has no experience pitching in that situation, Matsuzaka missed 4 months... Wakefield missed 3 months..

Anaheim: Santana, Saunders, Kazmir have all been mediocre with ERA's over 5.

... So again I ask why are we "doomed"?

Both guys gave up 5ER in each of their past two starts. So I guess the Tigers should panic with their starting pitching struggling and having to face our offense in the postseason. Dude get a grip, you're not even a Yankee fan.

Why is everybody being so negative? They aren't going to win every game and they aren't going to stay hot forever. They have 10-12 games left to regain their form and for a team as good and talented as the Yankees I'm not too worried.

It's conceivable that the Yankees could lose the division. The Red Sox are playing the Royals now and have the series against us, the Blue Jays, and the Indians remaining. So long as the Yankees don't get swept against the Sox, they'll probably be okay, but hey, you never know.

Acting like the season's over because they aren't playing .750 ball or whatever at the moment is laughable, though.

Well.. the red sox just lost to the royals after being up 6-0... So our Magic number is down to 8 regardless if we win tonight or not..

And of course we get shut down by the very average saunders.. LOL.. thank god for the royals and their 6 run inning answer to boston's 6 run inning.. We dodged a bullet tonight. Lets hope we can win the next two and go into the boston series at least up 5 games... Andput the season away then.... what what a way to limp down the stretch..

Yea, what a consolation prize. Well, the yanks sucked against the Angels (as usual) BUT...those Royals will bail us out!

Today, the Yanks could lose again behind Gaudin. Maybe the Royals can win another with Zach Greinke on the mound? Maybe.

People forgot to mention the quality start by Pettite.

You people are just spoiled..
