If Cashman could have brought him back for the same price and didn't want to, i'm going to throw him off a cliff. Nope, let's focus on Damon, who's about as much of a DH at this point, can't hit on the road, and wants a longer, more expensive contract.

^^Exactly. We need Matsui much more than we do Damon. Not really sure why the yanks didn't offer him 7 mil. He sure as hell deserves it.

I don't see any reason why they didn't match it. Matsui could have DH'ed this season and just platoon Melky and Gardner in LF.

Matsui was such a class guy. You NEVER heard a complaint from this guy. He never started any trouble. He was the conssumate professional both on and off the field. I'm going to miss that sense of professionalism he brought to the Yankees.

I see why Cashman let him go. Cash wants to get younger and more athletic. Don't be shocked if Cash lets Damon fall by the wayside (who btw looked balky running the field in Sept and Oct) if Boras doesn't come down from that ridiculous number.

The YAnks could very easily sign Vlad at the DH who can fill a little time in OF or promote Jesus Montero. It's all win for the Yanks.
