This has to be the summer of Beane for us. Shed some useless payroll, restock the farm system. Outside of Haren, Barton, Buck and Suzuki, I'm not opposed to trading anyone this offseason to replenish the farm.
I agree with you,but I'd like to keep Swisher,Bowen,Marshall,Blevins, and Ellis also.I'd like to see Marshall sent down to AAA,to get some work,I do think he'll be good in the long run.And Blevins I wouldnt mind keep while Marshall is in the minors.

Marshall gone to the Sox via waivers now...
Kinda sucks we didn't get more for him. Oh well, I think Billy has just up and admitted we need to restock the farm so I expect some trades coming this fall.

OAKLAND -- The A's on Tuesday named Ron Romanick, a former big league pitcher who spent the past nine seasons as the organization's roving Minor League pitching instructor, their bullpen coach for the 2008 season.
Prior to joining the A's, Romanick, 46, served as a coach and pitching coordinator in the Seattle Mariners organization from 1992-98.
Romanick's Major League career spanned three seasons (1984-86) with the California Angels, for whom he posted a record of 31-29 and a 4.24 ERA in 82 appearances, all starts.
He made 33 starts for the Angels as a rookie in 1984 and went 12-12 with a 3.76 ERA, and he went 14-9 in 1985. After going 5-8 in 1986, Romanick was traded to the New York Yankees and spent the 1987 season with Triple-A Columbus. He retired in 1988 after spending one year in the Milwaukee farm system.
A native of Bellevue, Wash., Romanick pitched in college at Arizona State University. He replaces former bullpen coach Brad Fischer, whose 29-year association with the organization ended when it was announced last week that his contract would not be renewed.
There remain two openings on manager Bob Geren's staff. Bench coach Bob Schaefer and third-base coach Rene Lachemann also were relieved of their duties last week

OAKLAND -- According to Major League sources, the A's have received permission to interview Rangers coach Don Wakamatsu for the bench coach vacancy on manager Bob Geren's 2008 coaching staff.
The interview is set for Friday.
On Tuesday, the A's announced the appointment of longtime roving Minor League pitching instructor Ron Romanick as Geren's bullpen coach for next season, leaving two openings. Bench coach Bob Schaefer, bullpen coach Brad Fischer and third-base coach Rene Lachemann last week were informed that their contracts would not be renewed.
Wakamatsu, 44, served as former Rangers manager Buck Showalter's bench coach from 2003-2006 and was one of five managerial candidates interviewed after Showalter was let go.
The job eventually went to former longtime A's infield coach Ron Washington, who hired former A's manager Art Howe as his bench coach in Texas, but Wakamatsu was retained as Washington's third-base coach.
Prior to joining the Rangers, Wakamatsu, who played in 18 games as a catcher for the 1991 White Sox, coached in the Angels, Diamondbacks, Indians and Mariners organizations, including Minor League managerial stints with the Halos and D-backs.
Should the A's hire Wakamatsu, it's likely that Fischer, who coached for several years at the big league level with Washington and served on Howe's Oakland staffs, would be asked to join the Rangers in some coaching capacity.
