This is great for us Hummuffle
The relevant prospects have no MLB experience, to my knowledge, meaning their arbitration hasn't even started yet. A very key point to the deal, I'm sure. We sold high on Haren. Remember, he had an above average defense behind him for most of the year, and he's still very prone to the longball, sure to be amplified in Zona.
That said, he's still a great #2, solid #1, and will be missed in Oakland. This all but confirms that everyone whos not considered a special prospect (re: Swisher, Barton, Suzuki) is on the block. Chavy, Dan Johnson, Ellis, Crosby, Cust, Kotsay, Street, Blanton, Harden... any one of them could be next and I'm just licking my chops at the prospects we can still get. If this is the market for pitchers right now, we need to sell on Harden and Blanton, tomorrow.

DANA EVELAND , lhp Age: 22 B-T: L-L Ht: 6-1 Wt.: 240
Drafted: JC of the Canyons (Calif.), D/F 2002 (16th round) Signed by: Corey Rodriguez
Background: Eveland was a draft-and-follow signee in 2003, one year after the Brewers gave Manny Parra $1.5 million as a draft-and-follow. Eveland joined Parra in the Huntsville rotation in 2005, blew past him as a prospect and spent much of the second half in Milwaukee

Have one good season, inflate his value, trade him... Moneyball is back! I'm glad to see the wheels turning this offseason... much needed rebuilding.
I agree,I have no problem rebuilding, and Billy always seems to do a great job, when he has.

Lefthander Dana Eveland moved on to his third organization in the last three years when he was included in the package that sent Dan Haren from the Athletics to the Diamondbacks. Eveland is coming off a great season in Mexico during which he went 4-2, 2.51 with 69 strikeouts in 61 innings for Mexicali. But scouts still have questions about Eveland's impact in the big leagues. "He's always carved guys up in the minor leagues
